I had my computer reformatted, and the touchpad is no longer on here. I can use it just as a mouse, but the slide bars on the right and bottom don't work anymore, and the icon is no longer in the bottom right hand corner.

Thats because you need to go to the dell website

support.dell.com

ensuring you have the latest flash and shockwave installed for your web browsers and click on drivers or download drivers and select the model of laptop you have and download the touch pad driver for your laptop - you may need to use a usb mouse temporarily whilst doing this.

Acer mouse disassemble ???

The Acer Aspire is a laptop model that has a built-in "mouse pad," also called a "touchpad." The user runs his or her finger across the mouse panel to move the cursor. If your mouse pad no longer responds to your touch, it may be due to a build-up of dirt and grease. Another common problem is having an outdated or damaged mouse pad driver. These problems can be quickly resolved without having to take apart the laptop.

Hold down the "Fn" key, which is found at the bottom left corner of the keyboard. Press the "F7" key once while holding the "Fn" key. Look for a message that says "touchpad enabled." b> Update the Drivers Go to "Start" > "Control Panel" > "System and Maintenance" > "Device Manager." Double-click on "Mice and other pointing devices" to expand the options. Right-click "Synaptics Touchpad" and then click "Search automatically for updated driver software." Wait for the computer to scan and install new drivers. Restart your laptop.

My touchpad is erractic and the mouse buttons don't work.

Absolutely! You should have changed the mouse and keypad first. That's a problem with many Dell laptops. Mine included.

How do I double right click if I don't use a mouse, I use a touch pad

Notice how the touchpad is laid out. Normally there is the big square area that you slide your finger across to control the mouse pointer. Then either at the top or at the bottom of the touchpad there will be two separated squares that you can click on. They work just like a mouse. the one on the left is a left click, the one on the right is a right click.

Ha a Toshiba Satellite a100 I can not turn off the touch pad (as I only want to use the mouse). Both touch pad and mouse are working. the laptop had to be reformatted recently and its since then All...

If your computer have a, Synaptics Touchpad you can try these steps:

1. Access the properties of the Synaptics Pointing Device by right-clicking on the system tray icon at the bottom right-hand corner of the screen. If you do not see the icon, open your Control Panel and select the "Performance and Maintenance" option. Click "System", then "Hardware", then "Device Manager" to view the devices on your computer. Open the "Mice and Other Pointing Devices" selection.

2. Click on the "Device Settings" tab of the "Mouse Properties" window. The "Device Settings" tab is at the top of the window and located farthest to the right

3. Highlight the Synaptics Touchpad from the list of available pointing devices. Click the "Disable" button underneath the list. Click "OK" on the pop-up menu to confirm your selection. Click "OK" on the Mouse Properties window to close the window. Your Synaptics Touchpad will now be disabled.

Make sure to connect a USB mouse to your laptop before disabling the touchpad so that you will still have control of your pointer.

Hope this help. Goodluck!

The "Touchpad is very sensitive; if you look while scrolling, the "scroll-bar" will turn (Blue), click on the ("scroll-bar"), until it turn "Gray." Note: "You ca use the Pointer Device / Touchpad without using the Scroll-bar, basically anywhere on the screen; ("bottom scroll-pad" = left to right"), and ("right -side edge scroll-pad = up & down").
