The bell is there to remind you your keys are in the ignition when the engine isnt running so you dont lock your keys in the car accidentally. You can unplug the bell under your dash, but I dont recommend it. If you do, make sure you have a spare key handy. Locating the bell can be challenging, but just listen to where it seems to be coming from and disassemble the dash at that point. You should be able to find it then.

SOURCE: warning bell does not turn off

quick solution till u get it fixed would be to remove the steering column.....few bolts......then cut the small green wire that goes into the ignition harness.....this is the key warnings power.....I literally just came in from cutting mine.....but that was because I put in an engine start button

SOURCE: door ajar light stays on after i close the door

I had the same problem in my 98 and 96 Sables. Ford dealer says it is a problem with a sensor, located behind the left rear quarter panel. It doesn't recognize when the doors are closed, therefore it leaves the dome light, etc. on--sometimes briefly, but possibly until the battery goes dead. Worse when the weather is damp. Their solution was to throw it on the diagnostic computer BUT ONLY WHILE THE PROBLEM IS ACTIVELY HAPPENING, then replace the sensor--they quoted me a minimum of $300. I leave the cover off the dome light, and pull the bulb when necessary.

Door bell rings when key is out and drivers side door is opened on my 2005 chevy impala

Assuming the warning is for the key in the ignition, the problem could be the sensor inside the steering lock cylinder.

Warning bell is on when doors are opened, goes off when shut or ignition on, all lights off, doors shut, normal. open doors with ign. off and bell sounds

I'm assuming that the key is removed from the ignition and it's still chiming..
Take some lock lube spray and spray a bit in your ignition key slot. Then take the key and insert it in and out a few times. This may release a stuck contact in the ign. switch.
The chime will also sound if the lights are left on...worth a check too.
These are cheap fix/checks...hope they help.

Warning bell won't stop sounding

Section 13-09: Gauges, Warning Devices — Chime System 1996 Windstar Workshop Manual
DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION Warning Chime Systems Three distinct sounds are used to indicate the area of concern. Seat belt warning generates 1 chime per second
key-in-ignition generates 2 chimes per second
headlight on generates 4 chimes per second.
Key-In-Ignition Warning The key-in-ignition warning will sound when the driver's front door (20125) is opened with the key in the ignition switch. It will continue to sound until the key is removed, the front door is closed, the ignition switch is turned to START or the vehicle speed is over 24 kmh (15 mph).

Safety Belt Warning When the ignition switch is turned to RUN or START from OFF or ACC, the chime will sound for six seconds or until the safety belt is buckled.
  • The safety belt warning indicator lamp (10C859) will activate for 60 seconds or until the driver's safety belt is fastened. Both the chime and lamp activate at the same time.
Anytime the ignition switch is released from START and returns to RUN while the safety belt lamp or chime is activated, the safety belt warning lamp or chime will remain activated until either the timing sequence has been executed, or the safety belt is buckled.

Headlamp Switch On Warning The chime will be activated if the headlamps or parking lamps are ON, the key is not in the ignition and the driver's door is opened. The chime will sound at a rate of four per second.
