Everything works with the system except for the digital TV now. When I select TV/Radio the TV turns green and is on channel 2. I cant change the channel or even go into the setup menu. The onl button that seems to work is the volume. If I swith to Radio it works fine as well as dvd/cd. Please help and advise. (bought and used in Australia)

FWIW, I bought one of these receivers from the tip a few months ago ($5!) and it powered up with no picture. I opened it up and found one definitely blown capacitor, and that the main power cap was bulging out.

Replaced those two and mine now works. It looks like it may have suffered from the so-called "capacitor plague". So you may find one or more caps have gone in yours, as well. Easy and cheap to repair if you have some soldering skills, but may not be worth it otherwise.

That said, if anyone has a spare remote control for this model please get in touch (I can't find a generic remote that works with it)!

Start with reading the manual. In some cases, a code has to be entered (depending on the brand/type of the tv,...) to configure your remote. Mostly, there is a step-by-step guide in the manual.
Also, check the packaging/manual of the remote to see which brands the remote is compatible with.

I have an LG all in one home theatre system, LCD TV and Direct TV satellite box. It is all hooked up and working fine except I only hear the sound through the speakers when playing a dvd or radio. The...

OK. For all you regular Joe's like me here's the fix--plain and simple! I have Dish Networks HD receiver, an LG Home Theater System (LHB953) and an LG HD Television - although I suspect this applies for most LG TV-to-LG Audio Systems used in combination with a HD TV). My problem lied within the LG to LG setting known as SIMPLINK which tries to "auto-configure" everything between LG to LG devices.

Do this to make your HD TV (using Dish/DirecTV) play it's HD video display from the satellite provider but play the audio over the LG surround sound speakers:

1. Plug a HDMI cable from your satelite receiver's set-top-box to your HD TV. This will carry your HD "video" ONLY. Click "Input" on the TV remote until the HD video signal shows your desired TV channel from your satellite provider.

2. Plug an HD Optical cable (the one with the red laser) from your LG HTS (Home Theater System) to your satellite box. This will carry your HD "audio" ONLY.

3. This is the magic everyone seems to be overlooking. On the LG TV remote, go into the menu options and disable SIMPLINK by setting SIMPLINK=OFF. This feature allows the video and audio signals to be split over 2 different ports: HD video goes over the HDMI cable and the audio to go over the HD Optical cable.

Hope this helps!

I just bought a dvd home theater system sc-pt760 and i have a 42 inch LG flat screen and the sound wount work on AUX for the TV

Are you using the HDMI connection on both units, the SC-PT760 does have a HDMI input Yes/NO ? If not then it has HDMI output to the LG for HD Picture. What I would do if no HDMI INPUT to the SC-PT760 is available, run out of the TV with the Digital connection into the SC-PT760 Digital Audio in, assign the input as tv and you shoild get TV audio out of your home theatre, you could also use the analog connection audio out of the tv to the home theatre but this would not yield a dolby digital sound.

Hook up sylvania lc370ss8 LCD TV to a lg lht734 DVD home theater system

Hook a digital optic cable from the Tv's digital ouput to the Recievers digital sound in. This should fix it. You might have to switch the input of the reciever.

Does not play multichannel audio (5.1) input through optical digital audio

Hi try this.

in the dvd player make sure you just leave it default (bitstream) but in the home theater receiver don't select 5.1 b/c that will only give you a virtual 5.1 not a true 5.1. In fact don't select any sound field at all just select dolby digital or dts depending on the source of the movie then you should be ok.

The only other problem i can see is that hdmi sends both the sound and picture to the tv. You will need to see if there's a function on the dvd player to only send the picture via hdmi and the sound via the optical out of the dvd player.

good luck
