I have a Compaw Desktop Computer that is model number SR5130NX. Whenever I boot it, it will freeze at the red compaw logo screen, and will not allow you to even get into the BIOS, or boot off the dvd drive. I have tried removing the ram and replacing. Mother Board is working since it notices the missing RAM. Power supply works, and i beleive that everything else does to.
It happened one day randomly after a reboot. I was wodnering if it could be the CMOS battery on the motherboard. But I have tried removing and replacing it with the same battery as support said to no avail.

- I talked to support, and they said that it was the integrated video card, could that be it?
I am gonna try your solution tonight, I have the capability of performing the task myself, luckily. If not, What about installing a new hard drive to the computer to see if that works?
Can you hear the hard drive spinning? I believe you contacted a virus which got into the Master Boot Record. Same thing happened to me two weeks ago. I had to reformat. In your case you need to (or have someone) remove the hard drive from the laptop. Slave it to another unit with a USB bridge and retrieve the data (if possible). Then use these three programs on it while it's still a slave: Dr. Web, Malware Bytes, and Superantispyware. Once you've found all the bugs you may have to restore some of the protected files, you can do this with a Windows OS Repair.
