Question about Sony Dvcam DSR-PD150 DV Digital Camcorder

Menu items revert to default after removing battery

All of a sudden after I remove a battery from the camcorder, the menu settings go to default. Does this machine have an internal battery? Could it have something to do with replacing the Sony batteries with less expensive ones (Synergy Digital)?

Stored menu selections revert to default after removing battery pack.
Sony technical says internal battery is soldered to circuit board inside camcorder. To my surprise, he said the battery should be replaced once a year by the Sony service center ($$$$$). He also said the battery is NOT rechargeable! Has anyone replaced the battery themselves? I have an electronics background and am not afraid to get into the guts- but need to know where it is.

Yes, there is a small internal battery--I need to just be sure that I use or charge a battery on the camcorder at least once every 4 months.

Restoring Default Settings
To restore factory default settings to your DVR:
1. Enter the Factory Default menu, by going to Main Menu > Maintenance > Factory Default.

2. Select the OK button to restore factory defaults or select the Cancel button to return to the previous menu.
Note: Network information such as IP address, subnet mask and gateway will not be restored.

hope thid helps. and you can also try removing all power from unit if it does not have inturnal battery. if it does have an internal battery after removing all external power you will have to remove battery to completely reset. Note the latter suggestion will void warrenty if you have to open the unit to remove the battery.
GOOD LUCK :-)

Bios password default toshiba satellite

If it has been set, to remove it needs the internal battery removing, or an internal link connected. After battery or link done, for 30secs or less, bios will be reset to defaults

Camcorder keeps reading internal memory full and just put new memory stick in camcorder how do I get out of internal memory

Your Sony camcorder has internal hard-disk and records by default to this media. If this is full, you need to offload the recordings and free up some space on the disk. But to select the memory card you can do the following:

Selecting the recording media for movies:
Touch (MENU) [Show others] [MEDIA SETTINGS] (under
[MANAGE MEDIA] category) [MOVIE MEDIA SET].
The [MOVIE MEDIA SET] screen appears.

Touch the desired recording media.

Touch [YES] .OK
The recording medium is now changed.

For still images:
Selecting the recording media for photos
Touch (MENU) [Show others] [MEDIA SETTINGS] (under
[MANAGE MEDIA] category) [PHOTO MEDIA SET].
The [PHOTO MEDIA SET] screen appears.

Touch the desired recording media.

Touch [YES] .OK
The recording medium is changed.
Hope this helps, if more help needed, reply back.

Internal memory is full

Check the settings for the default storage.
On the camera press "Menu".

In the menu go to the camera settings symbol (camera and wrench).
Go to the "image storage". Is "internal" or "auto" selected?

Is internal selected copy the files to the memory card.
Leave the menu. Press "preview". You'll see only pic's from the internal memory.
Press "Menu" ... "Copy" and choose all.

After that go back to "image storage" and choose "Auto" and -if necessary- delete the files from the internal memory (remove the card before!)

Having trouble with the date and time settings

This is because of the internal battery that might have problems... not a big deal just take it to the service centers and you can surely have it checked for cheaper costs

Is there an easy way to reset all settings on camera back to factory default

Here is the link to the user manual for your camcorder if you need it; http://books.jvcservice.com/download/685826248/21964.pdf There does not appear to be a factory settings reset, however in the manual, all the settings and their preset values are listed. You could try removing all multimedia cards, battery, power supply and leaving the unit for around 3 months! (page 11) to discharge the internal memory cell, or if you feel competent to take the camcorder apart, you MAY be able to remove and replace this battery. Unfortunately I think the resets have to all be done individually, or take the camcorder to a service centre to see if they can discharge the internal memory cell - this is probably not a good idea, dependent on the exact tyoe of cell used. Hope this helps some :)

I need to set the camcorder to default settings

For most models, removing the battery pack from the camcorder will restore the default settings; however, some models which contain an EZ Q button, store your settings and removing the battery pack will have no impact on these settings. The Lithium battery maintains the clock function and preset contents of the memory; even if the Battery pack or AC Power adapter is removed. Removing the Lithium Battery along with the Battery pack will restore the default settings.
