RCA 36 in. tv no volume

The volume on my RCA 36 in. TV keeps turning down. I can turn it up but it goes right back down. It's like the button is stuck, the volume display is always displayed. I popped out the control on top of the TV, it APPEARS to be working correctly. I tried new batteries in the remote, then I tried a new remote. Would this be a electronic problem? Maybe a bad solder joint? Please help.

I have a 36" RCA F36650 and it the volume started to go up on its own. I took the control sensor out and cleaned it with a can of air and changed the batteries and bought a new remote. It still does it and no one works on these tv's anymore.... my husband is getting furious!..

It is not a loose solder joint. It is not a faulty capacitor. Usually, a spray cleaner or some other fluid is sprayed or spilled onto the top or front of the TV and it seeps down inside and contaminates the little pushbuttons. If the volume down pushbutton is contaminated, the set will have the exact symptoms you are seeing.I have seen this many, many times, and once I saw a pushbutton contaminated with cigarette smoke. The pushbuttons should be checked and/or replaced by a qualified tech.

Yes it is a electronic problem. as you get sound but it comes down again. it is mainly due to any loose contact in sound section or any capacitor is faulty.

MENU SCREEN POPS UP, TV CHANGES CHANNELS, TURNS SOUND DOWN

Yes. Its probably a stuck button on the TV's front panel. Try pushing or wiggling each button on the panel. It could be the channel up/down buttons or volume up/down, menu, etc.

When there is a button that is making slight contact, it keeps the microprocessor busy attending to the command its erroneously receiving from the offending button and may not allow other functions to work when this occurs.

It doesn't matter which button is stuck, any of the symptoms you describe can happen.

Sound goes down

The down button on your remote might be stuck down. Try taking the remote out of the room or cover it up with something. Then turn the sound up at the set and see if it stays up. If this doesn't work, the down button on the front of the set may be stuck or have leakage in the button. This would require taking the set to a service shop. Another possibility would be a loose ground on the CRT dag which can cause this. this also would be something a service shop would need to take care of, as you could get a shock if you attempt this repair yourself.

36 inch RCA 36v430t

Mike-It looks like the power supply is going on your tv-it can be replaced. This happens, usually, when little kids are playing wth the remote or power button on the tv. Turn it off and on a whole bunch of times in a row, kids love to do that, and it burns out the power supply part- to make a CRT tv like your RCA36 incher- which is a beautiful machine- I have the RCA/PROSCAN 36 incher-LAST longer...You should always wait 5 min between turning it off and on. Don't ever sell it. This one is worth fixing. It has better color and sound Than the new plasmas and lcds-The Pros know this. Be carefull, they might try and talk you out of it-so they can fix it and have it for themselves. So what if it's not High Deff. It's a great set.

I had this happen. (ontop of the button board infront shorting out). I took the back off, and if your looking at the screen it'll be on your right. There is a metal box with two ribbons coming out of them, I unplugged both and plugged both in, and now she turns on without any issues. Not sure why, but it works. Now if I could get some help finding the circut board with the front buttons on it. I.e channel up down and volume.
