What does the capacitor look like? is it hard to replace the fan motor?

  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

Check the capacitor on the outside unit. Replace it first. If the unit still does not run replace the fan motor.

The capacitor would have to be changed with a new fan motor anyway.

The capacitor is located inside the control panel on the outside unit. It is round or oval and silver in color. It runs the outdoor fan and the compressor both.
The terminals are marked= C, /F or fan/, H or herm. C-F-H.
The microfarad rating is printed on the capacitor. Make a color code wire diagram before removeing wires.
Disconnect power to the unit. Use a insulated screwdriver to short out the terminals on the capacitor before removing it.

Our reverse cycle airconditioner is not cooling in two of our bedrooms, but the rest of the house seems to be cooling alright, but I am sorry the airconditioner is approximately 6-7 years old and we have...

Hi, I assume it is ducted, it could be either a flapper door is closed to shut off an area from receiving air, or there is a blockage in the duct (less likely). Also if there is more than one duct attached to the air conditioner then you'll have to check if air is entering all ducts (you may have a problem with the unit).

Ductless minisplit in old mobile home

ductless mini split units are a very good choice!  they are obviously quieter, more efficient and easier to maintain than window units. the downside is the initial expense of buying the unit, but this is paid back in eletric savings and peace of mind. Good luck Peyton

20 year old central a/c heater not working

Check your thermostat and mode selector setting, thermostat setting should be set at warmer and mode selector setting should be at low heat or hight this is applicable for manual unit.
If it is a remote control just set the remote to heat mode.
