Ice Maker not working

I have a whirlpool side by side refrigerator. The door has a water and an ice dispenser. The water dispenser is working, but the ice maker is not making ice. I have tried everything in the book, and I know the ice maker is getting water. We just bought the house and there was ice in the ice maker so it worked at some point. We dumped the old ice out and it hasn't made any new ice. It has been over a week. Any suggestions?

Thanks. I'll try tonight and get back to you.

Ok. I put the water in the ice maker and it was frozen this morning but it didn't drop. I didn't have an arm though? It looks like everything is infrared. I think the model number is 2188772. That is on the bottom of the Use & Care Guide. Anything next?

Get me the model number. Put tap water in ice maker tray and make sure arm is down. Let it freeze. Wait and see if the ice will drop, this should allow water to come into the ice maker for another run. Let me know, Thanks, Sea Breeze

    Turning the Ice Maker On/Off

    Style 1:

The ON/OFF switch is located on the top right side of the freezer

    compartment.

    • To turn on the ice maker, slide the control to the ON (left)

    position.

    • To manually turn off the ice maker, slide the control to the

    OFF (right) position.

    Style 2:

The ON/OFF switch is located on the ice maker, behind the ice

    maker cover door.

    • To manually turn off the ice maker, flip the switch to the

    OFF (bottom) position.

NOTE: Your ice maker has an automatic shutoff. The ice maker

sensors will automatically stop ice production when the ice

storage bin is full or the freezer door is opened, but the control will

    remain in the ON position.

Your dispenser can be turned off for easy cleaning or to prevent

unintentional dispensing by small children and pets.

NOTE: The lock feature does not shut off power to the product, to

the ice maker, or to the dispenser light. It simply deactivates the

ice and water dispensers. To turn off the ice maker, see "Ice

    Maker & Storage Bin."

    • Press and hold LOCKOUT for 3 seconds to lock the

    dispenser.

    • Press and hold LOCKOUT a second time to unlock the

    dispenser.

The water control valve on back of refrigerator that sends water to ice maker could also be defective. There are two sides tap and ice maker water.

Check inside the ice maker to verify that there are no old ice cubes stuck in the ejecter.
If a cube gets stuck in the ice maker, it will cause the unit to not eject new cubes until
the blockage is cleared.

Whirlpool side by side refrigerator, model # ED25PQ

Under the right side of the fridge in the back there is a dual valve for water and ice. Try changing it out, most likely the ice side is not working. Make sure you unplug the unit first

In door ice dispenser does not work but the water dispenser does.

check to make sure there is water or ice in your ice maker tray. If none then problem is usually a water supply issue to the ice maker. Behind the frig are the water supply inlet valves. One is for the water dispenser in the door. THe other is for the ice maker. However when one goes bad they both are replaced as one unit. Also Check position of fingers in ice maker. If not in a vertical position then try to reset the ice maker unit and worse comes to worse, replace it with a new one.
