Turn key and headlight comes on but wont turn over and have a new battery

if you turn your headlights on and its getting down to the starter your headlights should dim while turning key.

The soft click sounds like the starter relay. Check that out first and see that current is getting through when it soft clicks. ARE there any codes set??? What led up to this???

I'm not a car mechanic, but, it sounds like you might want to check the fuse to the ignition switch, and, if that fails, it might be a problem with the Start Safety Switch on the transmission. Good luck.

check the alternator and check for a short or ground a wire may be touching the frame you may want to check the engine computer module

You need to have a good battery in it. There are to many computer controlled opponents. Put a new or known good battery in it and try it. If it doesn't start then check for fire at the plugs and fuel pressure at the fuel rail.

Is the battery fully charged and are the connections clean and tight. Your ignition fuse seems to be blown. Check the big fuses under the hood. Will the headlights come on? will the horn blow? Good Luck!!!

turn on your headlights ,then turn key like your going to try and start the engine and see if the headlights dim dramatically, then you'll know if you have a good connection to starter from battery, then check chg on new battery

You need a new battery, when I had my car off the road for a few months and didnt use my battery it died from not getting charged by the accelorator. That is my answer. Hope is works.

If headlight do not come on, leave them on and start check ground and power.
If headlights do come on then locate the starter and fine something to tape on it, not too hard,
but before u can do this have someone set inside the car with the key turn in the start position...

either starter motor wire to solonoid has come loose or the ignition switch contacts have fallen apart,turn headlights on and see if dash still lights up could be a flat battery.??
