Question about HP Pavilion dv8000z Notebook

Screen montor goes blank

If i go to power options in the control panel i don't have any options to choose. i can set certain things like whether i want to enable hibernate or not, or enable standby or not.. but not the power options. in order to get the monitor back i've had to reboot, not a pleasant solution. i want to be able to enable always on or something like that, but i see nothing there or anywhere. i'm plugged in almost all the time, rarely does it get used more than an hour when away a plug. is there a way to keep monitor on always?

If the standard power settings are grayed out than most likely the laptop shipped with an alternate program that handles power settings. Look in the start menu thoroughly, it will be in there somewhere.

Why laptop screen goes black after plugging battery charger?

Try another charger and then see or it might be a power options issue

Try this

SOLUTION: If you have a second computer, use Remote Desktop by choosing 'Run', type 'mstsc', type the name of the computer with a black screen, and connect. After logging in, open 'Control Panel', and choose 'Power Options'. On the left panel choose 'Choose when to turn off the display'. On the row labeled 'Adjust plan brightness', under the 'Plugged in' column, turn up the brightness slider.

My screen goes blank whenever I try to watch a TV show online. How do I fix this?

Check the power options in control panel on the start menu and adjust settings. Sounds like the screen is set to go off after a certain time if there is no activity.

Goes into sleep mode will not come back on for 2 weeks or longer

It might be setup to go into sleep mode if it is left idle for a certain period of time. To change the settings click the following(I am assuming you have windows vista or windows 7):
Start,Control Panel,Power options,Choose when the computer goes to sleep(look on the left side),Then adjust the settings to what you wish by clicking the black arrow there.
Also check the "choose when to turn off the screen" in the same spot you clicked Choose when the computer goes to sleep.

My laptop screen become blank and stays that way

Before we go into the BIOS, lets try a few other things first. Go to the control panel, you get there by going to the start button and then to settings and there will be the control panel. Once there look for your "power options", open power options and look for the heading "closing the lid", when you find this, click on the drop down menu and choose "do nothing". Then look at the tabs at the top of the window and open the tab for Hibernation and turn it off. If you have windows 7, these changes can be made from the edit power plan settings. Try to edit the power settings first before messing with the BIOS.

Laptop monitor went black with no warning. Computer seems to still be working, but I can't see anything on the screen. I tried restarting and it didn't help. I'm assuming it's a hardware issue.

The problem you are facing is of a power scheme setting which is configured to go blank after a certain time of inactivity - You can change the power scheme option from your control panel power option icon and make it more timing or choose option never - please tell me the exact operating system you are using so that I can tell you what to do ?
