My 1989 Jeep Wrangler has been sitting unused for about 9 months. I am trying to get it started again and I'm having some difficulty. The engine will crank but it will not turn over. I have added gas to the tank, replaced the battery, fuel filter, fuel pump, distributor cap & rotor, and spark plugs. When I spray the carburetor with starting fluid the engine will run until the starting fluid is gone. This makes me think gas is not getting to the carburetor. Any suggestions on what I should check next?
Do this, take the top off the carb, being careful not to damage the gasket. Then take some carb cleaner and clean out the bowl and floats. Remove the needle valve and clean it out. Put it all back together and filling the bowl with carb cleaner. Start it with the starting fluid. Once you run the carb cleaner through it, it should start to run on it's own. Whatever you do don't shut it off for about 20-30 min unless you have to.
