I also have the same problem intermittently. Lamp/Cover light flashes and prjector does not turn on. This happens a few times. But some time projector does turn on and works fine. Can't figure out the reason. Any suggestions ? Raheel

I had the same problem with a "Sony VPL-ES3" projector. The lamp cover light would flash and the projector wouldn't turn on.
I think its a problem with a filter cover. This fixed the problem for me:
  1. Plug out the projector
  2. Click off the filter at the bottom of the projector.
  3. Plug the projector back in. (the lamp cover light should flash)
  4. Plug the projector out again.
  5. Put the filter cover back on.
  6. Plug the projector in again and it should work fine.
This has worked for me every time I have had this problem.

Thanks podge for your solution. I had tried it before as suggested in VPL-ES3 reference book (trouble shooting section) but it has not worked for me. Instead I have foud that there is a lamp cover at the bottom of the projector for replacing fused lamp. This cover is tied to the bottom via a single screw. Just make sure that this screw is not loose. In my case, when I tightened it the indication has vanished.

My projector has worked fine until today when the lamp/cover light came on and the projector won't turn on. Can't find my users guide. Help? Suggestions?
