Re: reversion to defaault settings

I read that if you hold the memory button down it resets the camera to factory settings. Could you be doing this inadvertently? Probably not your answer, but it's worth a shot?

To reset the camera back to the default setting, remove the battery for 15 mins, replace the battery then open the camera's Menu and set the Date & Time.

Settings memory

There is no other battery for your settings, as indicated by the manual if you leave your camera for more then 1 hour without batteries (or dead batteries) you will loose all you settings.

Unfortunately is the way this camera works.

The only other thing that you would like to verify is the following setting but should not be your case because if ON it should revert to the factory setting every time you turn power off.

Been shooting with my Pentax *IST DL on “AUTO PICT” and “AF” for the last few weeks with no problem. (with and without the flash.) As of yesterday however, anything I shoot is coming out dark. Even with...

1. Clean the contacts on the camera body and lens where they meet with a cotton swab lightly dampened with rubbing alcohol. 2. Go into the menu and find "reset" to go back to the original factory default settings. 3. If you have a second lens, does the same problem occur?

Best settings to capture fireworks?

It's a little difficult with this camera since the slowest shutter speed is 3 secs. You need to have the timing right to get the best result:
Set mode dial to M, Select shutter speed with 4-way switch up and down : 3 secs. Now select Aperture: Hold down +/- button and select aperture with the same 4-way button, up and down. Choose F8, which is the smallest opening. You need to have the camera on a tripod when taking the picture. If the picture gets to dark, adjust the aperture. If it gets to light, you adjust the shutter speed, making the timing even more difficult.

Fuji E550 loses date and time every time i change batteries

Theres a small back-up battery located on the main
power board. It's not a DIY project to replace this battery.

Factory default reversion

Sounds like you have a poor connection to the batteries. If you take the batteries out, the settings all revert. Clean off the metal pieces which connect to the batteries with a dry abrasive substance. Good luck.

Factoryvdefault settings

If you take the batteries out, the settings all revert. If you leave it open too long while changing the batteries, they revert. You might also be developing a poor connection to the batteries. IClean off the metal pieces which connect to the batteries with a dry abrasive substance. Good luck.

Overexposure and vertical lines

My E550 started producing over exposed frames (everythings white except maybe across top) with lines. This just happens outside. On inside the pictures are great.
