Logon Change

Enable Log-On Screen

Windows, by default, is set to show the Welcome screen during startup.

To enable the log-on screen to show, go to "Start" menu and select "Control Panel".

In the control panel, click on "User Accounts".

In the "User Accounts" dialog-box, click "Change the way users log on or off" and uncheck the "Welcome Screen" option.

Click "Apply Options" to save the changes.

Change Log-On Screen Background Color

To change the log-on screen background color, go to the "Start" menu and click on "Run".

In the run dialog-box, type "mspaint" as the name of the program to "Open".

Click on "OK". In the "Paint" window that opens, select "Colors" from the main menu and click on "Edit Colors". In the "Edit Colors" dialog-box, select "Define custom colors".

Here pick the color of your choice and note down the "Red", "Green" and "Blue" values.

Write down these values somewhere.

Click "Cancel" and close the paint window without saving. Now, go to the "Start" menu, click "Run" and enter "regedit" as the name of the program to "Open".

In the registry editor, navigate to HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\CONTROL PANEL\COLORS and double-click the "Background" string.

In the "Edit String" dialog-box that opens up, change the values in the "Value data" field to the red, green and blue color values that you wrote down (e.g. 75 78 173).

The default value will be 0 78 152. Enter the values in the correct red-green-blue order, separated by a space. Close the registry editor and log off to see the changes.

Put Image in Log-On Screen Background
To put your favorite picture in the background of the log-on screen, click "Start", then "Run", and type in "regedit". In the registry editor, navigate to HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\CONTROL PANEL\DESKTOP and double-click the string "Wallpaper". In the "Edit String" dialog-box that opens up, enter the full path and filename of the image that you want to use as the background. The image must be in .bmp format. Click "OK" and close the registry editor. Log off to see the changes. hope this helps

I need to reset my password on my Dell Studio 1535.I forgot what it was and cannot start up without

When you boot up to the log in screen type in administrator as user to log in if you cant log in

Restart your computer during the boot up process you will see on the screen for a short amount of time press a certain key to enter set up press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS scroll down to set user password or supervisor password you can change or remove your password from there

if this fails to remove your password

The most common way that we know on how to reset or clear the BIOS password is to physically remove the power from the computer by disconnecting the power plug and then removing the Cmos battery for 30 minutes from the motherboard. Another way is to reset the clear CMOS jumper on the motherboard itself. Both of the 2 methods mentioned works because most motherboards use a battery to sustain the BIOS/CMOS settings for the motherboards PROM chip. So by cutting off cmos the battery power, the BIOS/CMOS settings will be erased.

click start control panel Open User Accounts in Control Panel. On the Users tab, click the name of the user whose password you want to change, and then click Reset Password. In New password and Confirm new password, type the new password, and then click OK. Notes You can change passwords only for local computer accounts, such as guest, administrator, or accounts you create for your computer. You cannot change your network logon password in User Accounts. To change your own password, press CTRL ALT DELETE and then click Change Password
also
if you are not the computer administrator and have not assigned a bios password during the boot up process you will see on the screen for a short amount of time press a certain key to enter set up Press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS scroll down to set user password or supervisor password you can change or remove your password from there also click start control panel user accounts on the users tab, click the name of the computer administrator you must have full control can change the password there

hope this helps you

start a windows xp system up n safe mode then click on control panel ten user accounts then the specified user which is password protected and it allows you to change the password without knowing the original one. Restart the computer. Repeatedly press the F8 key until the Advanced Boot Options screen appears. Select the Safe Mode option using the up and down arrow keys, then press the ENTER key. Choose "Windows XP Home/Professional", depending on the version of the operating system. Press ENTER. Shortly, the welcome screen should show.
Log in as "Administrator". Click Yes to not use System Restore Mode.
Click the Start button. Choose Run and type in "control userpasswords" (without the quotes). Click OK.:
Select the "Administrator" user. Click Change my password. Enter a new password in the corresponding text boxes. Click OK. Write this password down and store it in a secure place. I do not recommend that a password hint be used.
Close the User Accounts window and restart Windows.:
hope this helps you:
