Its a breather pipe im not positive but usually u twist and turn pulling on it to remove, its a interference fit the timing chaine cover is just stuck there is a gasket some times people put sealant on it u will need to use a very thin screwdriver and pries it open once u break seal it will b easy ,..u must re seal after u have finished fitting it or there will b oil every were leaking

Sounds like you got it. They are heavy and ocward (spelling?). As for the front drive shaft take the bolts out and give it a couple of wacks with a dead blow hammer then slide it out. Maybe a few days before hand give it a good spray down with wd40 or like product. Also when you get to the last bolt for the t-case to trans loosen it half way then put a drain bucket under it and seperate it a little and let the trans fluid drain some, or you will be wearing it.

so it takes some Pin pullers, or a litlte bit of messing around witth proper sized (heavy duty) bolt to pull the pins, i cannot seem to find the timing marks on mine once i got it offand want to put back on, i have a chilton and it doesnt help. if you buy the 100 -200 dolar shop manual from bentley it would probably be quite simple :)
pull, pins, timing cover, water pump, solenoid, etc. to get to timing cover, uppe and lower,pull valve cover, and loosen cam (exhaust side) to get chain off. :)
