Good fuel flow to carb, starts with full choke only. while idling, if I push in the choke or advance the throttle it dies.
Sounds like main jet is blocked or the float seat is jammed or stuck this can happen for two main reasons
1)leaving fuel for extended periods eg winter break 2) water in fuel
Exploded diagram of carbie will help. Normally you would remove fuel bowl from bottom of carbie this is either clipped or screw in center of bowl . the gasket can hold bowl in position a gentle tap gets it off. the jet is normally screwed in to the same piece of casting as the screw for the bowl and is removed by a slot head screwdriver Note when sticking screwdriver up hole make sure it is small enough so it does not damage thread inside casting remove jet and clean with a fine wire or a jet cleaner.( they can be bought from a camping supply store ) then screw back in.
The float is held in by a loose pin, when the bowl is off the pin can be removed, the float will fall off and so will the seat so be careful. the seat is small and is loosely attached to the float but will not stay connected to it.clean the seat and reassemble. Best to be done by removing carbie and placing on clean bench.Only some times can it be done in position. PS this is the same for most small engine. If you turn fuel off and run engine dry as apposed to turning off the ignition for long breaks this problem will tend not to happen

Replace the spark-plug, check the quality of the fuel(gas that is mixed or was stored more then three months is stale and wont fire correctly) make sure the fuel and air filter not clogged. If there is no change then your problem may be more technical, a nest may be restricting the govenor or you missed something with the carb and there still is debre causing it to stall.

Try removing fuel bowl under carb and cleaning it. Junk and condensation can collect there. I had same problem. Did that and problem fixed.

That throttle cable issue sounds like it may be the culprit. the cable housing (the outer casing for the wire throttle cable) may not be anchored correctly. Which may be allowing you to move the throttle without any change at the butterfly control on the carb. make sure the cable housing is anchored at both ends.. by the throttle control and at the carb area.. That may be your problem... hope it is that simple...

I had the same problem. If it is a 2 cylinder, remove the valve covers. On one side, the rocker arm had slipped off of the push rod. It was real loose. Put the rocker arm back on the push rod and tighten it down. I think this will do the trick.
