    Please, help me!!!

I bought a new battery for my dell latitude c800. I began charging it for a few hours then I switch on the laptop to see if the battery was working. At the time the laptop was on, I saw the battery led was off. The battery showed a 45% charge level, and disconnecting the adapter the laptop continued working well with the battery.

After discharging completely, the battery does not charge any more. When I connect the adapter, the battery led goes on but in two or three minutes it goes off and the battery level is always 0%. If I press the button on the battery for checking the power level, no led goes on, so the level is really 0%.

The C800 BIOS is A23. The system running is Windows 2000. The id of the battery, as shown by windows, is 96Panasonic4460 and I’m sure is the right battery for c800

Please, help me to understand what I can do to recover it!!!

    Thanks a lot

    I have a wireless network service for my Dell Lattitude laptop/c500-c600 model. It was displaying a warning, saying "memory is critically low". It was only 4 months old before it stopped powering-on. Sometimes it would display a warning that the battery is very low, after I had already charged the battery for 1 or 2 hours. I got another adapter cord and memory module for it. Still, it won't turn-on. With or without the adapter cord. I thought it "was" the old adapter. Because I sometimes had to giggle the wire...before the green lights would finally come "on". {As being operable}

Try switching the battery bay its in. My C800 will use battery from the right bay, but won't charge even though it says it is. It will charge/use from the left bay (main battery bay).

If its the battery with a press button that lights up 5 green lights.. if u hold it for about 6 seconds it should light up all or some in a row like 000.. ( depends on charge it has) after 6 seconds none should flash , they should turn off . if any do flash or led green are missing in between its likely a bad battery.

Dell C600 not charging replacement battery. NOt charging original battery either. Red light blinking constant. Is the problem iside the laptop?

I would say that it has to be. The port connecting the battery may be blocked or damaged. Make sure you don't have a battery leak.

It is possible the battery where the contacts from the laptop fit into or the gold colored contacts themselves need to be repaired. Worst case, the spill short circuited the contacts on the board, in which case you will have to replace the board. I would suggest really cleaning the gold contacts on the laptop and the small slots on the battery itself with a Q-tip with a little bit of rubbing alcohol on it. Please make sure both areas are totally dry before reassembling the battery.

Good Luck,

hi there, you can try this unplug the powercord from the pc and remove the battery and than press the power key than replace the battery adn plug in the power cord and let it charge for a hour or so and than try it again. if it boots good if not try to press the del key right after you turn on the unit and check the settings of bios to see what they are set at and try to set it to default or failsafe than save on exit and reboot and see what that does

Dell C600

Here goes, first download the A12 BIOS from this page or others,

Then, Run this file to make a bootable bios floppy disk. Reboot the laptop floppy will start dos mode, the updater will detect any bios newer then A12 and say finished without changing anything and come to an a: prompt.

type dir for a list of files on the floppy. If your typing gets you wierd symbols try holding the Fn key (lower left) lookfor the filename C600_A12.exe or somthing like this. type it at the a prompt exact. The bios flash will check system bios and ask your permission to revert back to A12. say Y.

Computer will reboot. take floppy out.

My batteries charge grat now, but I don't get all ythe settings pages in Bios that I should, It seems to hang when i enter Bios. Laptop works fine though. i have installed and tries all bios from A12 yo A23, the A12 seems to be the best. No problems from winXP.

Dell c 600 will no charge the battery

try load defaults on bios by goin F2 on dell splash screen. if still no go, remove battery and leave adapter plugged in. if no power while adapter only plugged in, replace adapter, if has power while adapter plugged in, replace motherboard( since you already replaced the old battery).
