Why the change engine oil light keep coming on when i start my 2005 buick rendezvous? how can i turn it off?

Did you have the oil changed lately ?
Oil Life Left
Oil life left percentage is based on the information the DIC receives from a class 2 message from the PCM. The DIC displays the current percentage of the GM Oil Life System. When the oil needs changing the change engine oil indicator in the message center turns ON. When the engine oil is changed, reset the oil life left. Refer to GM Oil Life System Resetting in Maintenance and Lubrication.

GM Oil Life System Resetting
When the system has calculated that oil life has been diminished, it will indicate that an oil change is necessary. A CHANGE ENGINE OIL message will come on. Change the engine oil as soon as possible within the next 600 miles (1 000 km). It is possible that, if driving under the best conditions, the oil life system may not indicate that an oil change is necessary for over a year. However, the engine oil and filter must be changed at least once a year and at this time the system must be reset.
If the system is ever reset accidentally, change the engine oil at 3,000 miles (5 000 km) since last oil change.
How to Reset the Engine Oil Life System
If the vehicle does not have optional Driver Information Center (DIC) , do the following:
Turn the ignition to ON, with the engine off.
Fully press and release the accelerator pedal slowly three times within five seconds.
Turn the key to OFF. If the CHANGE ENGINE OIL message comes back on when you start the vehicle, the Engine Oil Life System has not reset. Repeat the procedure.
If the vehicle has the optional DIC, do the following:
Turn the ignition to ON, with the engine off.
Press the MODE button until the DIC reads OIL LIFE LEFT/HOLD SET TO RESET.
Press and hold the SET button until 100 percent is displayed. You will hear three chimes and the CHANGE ENGINE OIL message will go off.
Turn the key to OFF.
If the CHANGE ENGINE OIL message comes back on when you start the vehicle the Engine Oil Life System has not reset. Repeat the procedure.

How to reset change oil soon light

Oil Life Monitor Resetting (KD, KE)
Description
The engine oil life monitor will indicate when to change the engine oil and the engine oil filter - usually between 5 000 km (3,000 miles) and 12 500 km (7,500 miles) since the last oil change. Under severe conditions, the CHANGE OIL message may be displayed before 5 000 km (3,000 miles). The vehicle must not be driven more than 12 500 km (7,500 miles) or 12 months without an oil change.
The engine oil life monitor will not detect dust in the oil. If the vehicle is driven in a dusty area, be sure to change the oil every 5 000 km (3,000 miles) or sooner if the CHANGE ENGINE OIL message is displayed.
Reset the oil life monitor when the oil has been changed.
Resetting Procedure
Press the INFORMATION SKIP button on the DIC control panel in order to display the OIL LIFE LEFT message.
Press and hold the RESET NO button until the display shows 100% ENGINE OIL LIFE.

When I check the oil it smells of gas motor run strong but why would there be gas in the oil?

your oil may be breaking down, try a really good oil change with a fram oil filter, recommend that you use castrol 30 weight oil in winter and 40 weight in summer, also add lucas oil treatment in with the oil change,it gives great top of motor lubrication, not like regular oil.fram filters are great too, they won't fold under pressure like a cheap one would.when you refine oil,it turns into gas.if you've been using a quick oil change place, stop. find a mechanic that can change your oil. you go to parts store, purchase an oil change kit with 30 weight castrol oil, tell them you want to add lucas oil treatment in on the oil change and have them look up your engine to see how many quarts of oil it takes, make sure they know that you want to add the lucas in on the oil change so you don't overfill the oil.after you've purchased the oil change kit, then go to your mechanic with your supplies and have them change your oil.after you've done this once, you'll do it all the time.quick oil change places buy their oil in bulk and as cheap as possible, then charge you for quality products.they break down quicklyand add very little lubrication to your engine.thank you for choosing fixya.com

My oil light is on, i have 39 miles on my gsxr 600. do i need an oil change or do i need to put oil in

Don't listen to the idot that said to change your oil at 39 miles! If you only have 39 miles on your bike and your oil light is on it mean there is low oil pressure so you need more oil in it. Cause the only reason that light goes on is when theres not enough oil in it. Not because you need an oil change. Also the oil change should be done at least every 3,000 miles but I do mine at 2,500. Also When you change the oil for the first time, you want to change the Filter as well. Every oil change there after you dont have to change the filter every time, you can do it every other oil change if you choose to. And always fill it up to in between the lines of your sight glass. and always makesure that after you put oil in it you start it up and for about 30-60 seconds then shut off and let sit for about an hour and add oil as needed.

reset the oil life feature to 100% (or your Personalized Oil Reset
Percentage). After you have the oil changed, you must execute
the following procedure. Press the OIL CHANGE RESET switch
and hold for five seconds as the M/C counts down for five

percentage instead of 100%. To ensure accurate oil life

smaller oil change interval than the manufacturer’s
recommended interval. To establish your Personalized Oil Reset

No problem, just question on oil change,

I would recommend that you change your oil every 3,000 mile or 3 months which ever come first. This just help you keep a cleaner engine and keeps oil at Peak performance and provide excellent protection against sludge which developes with lack of oil change. Once a year seems too long for an oil change. However between oil changes you can add oil if needed. Good luck and thanks for using FIX YA
