SOURCE: My mother left me her Bernia (record/electronic)

Hi, well you must have been your moms favorite. I'm guessing the Bernina she left you was an Bernina 830 since I think this was the only electronic Record unless the 930 was also a Record electronic.
You have a wonderfull machine. You can find the manual you want here at Berninausa.com ... http://www.berninausa.com/news_detail-n486-i2238-sUS.html . Look for the model number on your machine and click on it. You can download the manual there for free.

SOURCE: How do I put my Bernia sewing machine in it's permanent cabinet?

I have the 1130 when it was new and there wasn't a cabinet.

Is this something like you are referring to?

You will note that not all brands/models will work with this particular brand/model of cabinet.

SOURCE: Bernia machine tread tension will not adjust

Thread the machine with the presser foot up. This will open the tension control. Set the tension to around 4 and then lower the presser foot to see if this helps. If not, you need a certified Bernina repair person to take a look at the machine.

Bernia 1630 - tension for thread is wrong. Loops form on the bottom. I can pull the bottom thread out. Have retreaded the machine several times and played with the upper tension. No luck. ????

Always thread with presser foot up. Make sure tension is set on the red line. Check inside of your upper tension disks - there could be thread in there. After rethreading pull thread through, then drop presser foot. Thread should be tight. If not you might need to have the machine serviced.

Problem w/Bernia 1000 special. Used this for years and now no tension..can pull top thread right off from bottom ...tension is set as always at 3

check the thread is between the tension plates
forget the numbers and adjust tension by hand
adjust until there is resistance to pulling the thread just before you thread the needle

I have a old bernia 1000 special and I am having problems with the bobbin tension. I can pull the top thread right off from the top ...I have the tension set as usual at 3.

Rethread both the top and bobbin. Make sure the presser foot is always raised when threading the top thread. Check that the bobbin is turning the correct direction in the bobbin case and the thread is pulled all the way through the bobbin case slot.

How to thread the singer 20u33? The tension assembly is new, don't know where the wire is sposed to be...

When you thread the top thread, the thread will drop down on the right side of the tension mechanism and go around the bottom (clockwise) and up the left side. Grab the thread somewhere above the tension mechanism with your right hand and then pull the toward the right (as though you are going to close the circle around the tension disk. The thread should pull on the metal wire (spring) and your thread should pop into the correct position of the tension disk. When you release the thread, the wire spring should pop back to the left. Then you will continue threading through the remaining thread guides and the take-up lever.

I have Bernia 180. The bottom thread is puckering. Top thread is perfect. I cannot find help in manual. Please help

Check that the bobbin is inserted turning the proper direction in the bobbin case and that the thread is threaded correctly through the tension control on the bobbin case.

Make sure the upper thread is threaded correctly. The factory standard upper tension setting is midway between high & lower number although this may need to be tweaked for your particular machine.

If the machine is still pulling the bobbin thread too tight, you can try tightening the upper thread tension. If it still isn't resolved, you may need to loosen the bobbin tension.

You might also want to check the presser foot pressure on your machine. That generally needs adjustment when changing from thicker to thinner fabric and vice versa.
