Question about Sony Grand WEGA KDP-57XBR2 57" Rear Projection Television

Trouble code 6 blinks

The tv just went out during operation. Unable to turn on. Trouble code 6 blinks. Research tells me "6 times, Diagnosis: LOW B OCP/OVP (Overcurrent/over voltage). Possible causes: +5 line is overloaded. (A, B boards), +5 line is shorted. (A, B boards). Symptoms of the problem: No picture." Is there any online schematics? I am OK at reading schematics and can work a multimeter. Just need to located the +5 line. Or better yet is there a common circuit board that i can just remove and replace?

Is there a common fix to this 6 blink issue? Such as a fuse or replace a board?

Try going to http://getmanual.com/index.php?nav=cat_brands and type KDP-57XBR2 in the search catalogue box. There are three service documents for you there. They take PayPal or credit card. I have used them before and the documents can usually be downloded within a day if not immediately. Hope this helps.

Will only turn on for about 3 second with no picture and then turns off. Standby light blinks 6 times

For the KV30HS420, 6 blinks, pause, 6 blinks, etc. means "LOW +B OCP/OVP (overcurrent/overvoltage)" and the probable cause locations listed are as follows:

1. +5 line is overloaded (A, B, M boards)
2. +5 line is shorted (A, B, M boards)
3. IC504 is faulty (A board)

hope this helps John

Try the following to see what exactly the 6 light blinks mean.

To see the diagnostic screen, Press the following buttons:

Display, Channel, 5, Vol Minus, ( Not plus ) then Power.

This brings up a screen with a list of the problems and number of times they have occurred. This will tell you what is happening and see if it's worth fixing.

Also, have you tried unplugging the TV for a few minutes? if it's some kind of computer error, unplugging it will allow the error to clear and possibly allow the TV to work again. Just an idea to try in case the error code doesn't tell you.what is wrong.
