The machine starts the cycle by draining any water then tries to fill for the heating stage. A sensor must trip before the right water level is reached because the heating elements start to heat in clear air, melting the plastic cutlery tray! Is this a faulty sensor? Everything else seems to be fine - plumbing etc.

- Thanks. Just moved in to a new house with no manual. The old owners conveniently didn't say whether the machine was working! (Should have checked myself!) Is this a fix I can do myself? Could the float switch be just dirty? Any idea where it is in this model?

Dishwasher, zanussi DW 905, not using rinse aid, and it shows. Adjusting dose control makes no difference. ( The system would not recognise DW 905, so the product model no. listed below was used to post the problem).

I have exactly the same problem on my Zanussi DE6544 as one previously posted by eimusi on 6 Aug 09 ( which was not answered) The power light is on but no other function buttons produce any response. I have already replaced the door catch including the micro-switch, but this did not solve the problem Any ideas please Thanks
