Question about LG 50PX4DR 50 in. Plasma TV
I have a 50" LG plasma tv and I am hooked up to Directv. When I turned it on today there was a large red line on the right side of the screen. No matter what channel I am on its on the screen. Any idea what caused it and do I need to replace my tv aready? Thanks
I had the same problem -red, vertical bars along the right side of my Samsung 42" Plasma- and this is what fixed it: Removed unterminated cable.
I had hooked up an HD video camera to the set about two weeks ago. While I disconnected the camera I left the other end of the connector cable plugged into the T.V.. As I've since learned from friends who work in television, this is what's called an "unterminated cable" -meaning one end is unconnected. It can lead to problems with electrical interference and appears to have been the problem in this case; When I disconnected this cable from the T.V. the red bars went away.
So, check your cables. Make sure everything is properly connected and get rid of anything that might be picking up interference.

I have the similar problem on my screen before too. After restart my PC, it disappear.
I think you can identify your problem is monitor or display card problem by taking a Print screen, and plaste it on a word document. If it appear the screenshot having a same line, then it would be the display card problem. Otherwise, you can change another monitor.

Depends on the width of the line is it a staight line how for in from the side sounds like you may need one of the sistain boards or you may even have a bad panel

I also have a Vizio 42" Plasma [P42hd] with the same problem a 1" thick red line vertically on the left side; which comes and goes. Which started about two weeks ago on some days its there for the whole day and other days it doesn't even show.
I brought this set back in March of 2005 at Costco for $2,000 and of course the warranty is expired, now! I contacted Vizio Inc. which they transfered my call to a off site service tech center, who told me that this model is no longer being serviced by them do to parts (he didn't get into detail) and so my situation will be referred back to Vizio and I should hear from them soon....One week now & I haven't heard from them yet...I guess I'll call back!
