you might need to calibrate a part of the typewriter in order to fix this or there might be broken part of the typewriter.
Please verify how the paper should be advanced based on the typewriter manual. And if it's different in the manual, then you might need to call Royal directly to ask for the closest repair shop you can send the typewriter to so that the issue can be fixed.
The paper thickness may have something to do with it. Also If there is grit or other debris on the pressure roller, that can hinder the advancement too.
If there is debris (sometime you can not see the residue) remove the current roll, get stout paper towel or rag, and using isopropol alcohol, clean the pressure roller. Allow 5 minutes to completely dry, and try again.
