Question about Canon PIXMA MP160 All-In-One InkJet Printer

E3 (paper jam) error. I cleared everything and pressed the reset button but the e3 stays on.

    Tried the suggested method to resolve the E3 issue, however had no success. Any other suggestions? I've just replaced the black ink cartridge, but that had no effect.

    i have the same problem.. i tried unplugging the unit then put it on again after several minutes.. still doesnt work

    I am running into the same problem. I tried everything.. switching off.. cleaning the printer ..everything. No luck.
    No paper Jam.. but the LED keep flashing E 3.

    HI ,
    I have this problem of MP160 E3 error without any reason or paper jam.I followed few advices already on board.I tried to print some how and finally i realised that it does try to print but something always blocks the paper and it always gets stuck without going inside.
    Does anybody know if the porblem might be genuine and there might be a thing inside.If yes then how do i remove it what should i do becuase i can only go as far as i could inside the printer.
    Do i need to open it and see what inside.

    Please help.

    I have the same problem of E3..I bought two cartridges for black and color and replaced em...but still doesnt work....i have tried numorous time turning off and turning it back on...when i turn it on, the roller rolls for few seconds...then the E3 gets displayed...it doesnt even pull the paper in....and has no paper inside the printer...please help....thankx

    I had a paper jam. Removed paper. Pressed blinking yellow light/button, but not resolved.

Don't know if it's the same problem i had but its maybe worth a try. E 3 was the error code i had flashing. Paper went in a little, the wheels were turning but it didn't take the rest of the paper or print.
Yesterday someone replied to my problem, i tried it this morning and its fixed 1st time.
Solution:- Use a piece of thin card, a magazine cover is what i used, make sure its A4 size then try to print something, as the paper starts moving push/ram it through! and hey presto it worked for me, everything printing fine now

Try removing your paper from the feed then opening all doors/panels, swithc it off and leave for 2 mins then close all panels/doors and switch back on. it shold now go through the normal startup procedure up to a [point where it will ask for the paper. insert the paper and it should have cleared the error. I was supposed to bring my mp160 to canon service center (around 60 miles). I had the same E 3 for quite sometime now and tried every solution that came out here at fixya. Then yesterday, fixya emailed me. It was a solution that Garty proposes.. Hey man it worked the first time I tried it. It save me the time, the effort and the money.. The problem was in broken axis of the pick-up roller, which cannot deliver normally paper to the sensor. For my luck, broken piece was inside in the printer, and after gluing on place, i drilled a hole on it and glued piece of metal wire to be stronger. For now is working :)

Cause: If the Paper Output Tray is closed or not opened fully, open it fully. The machine resumes printing.

Solution: If opening the Paper Output Tray fully does not resolve the problem, the paper may be jammed. Remove the jammed paper, reload paper properly in the machine, and then press the Black or Color button.
If it is still having a problem follow these steps to reset the device.
>>Issue: ERROR LED: E, 3
Solution: Press ON/OFF switch to reset the multifunction device

Reset the device when it is not functioning properly.
If the device is not functioning properly or to clear memory, reset it.

1. On the operator panel, press and hold the <ON/OFF> button for one second. (The display will go blank.)

Note: It may be necessary to unplug the power cord if pressing the ON/OFF button does not shut off the printer.

2. Wait approximately ten seconds and then press the <ON/OFF> button again.

3. Wait until the device has completed its cycling process before submitting another job request.
>>If it still is not fixed after that your printer will have to be serviced.

Error code E3 with no paper jam


it is problem your printer can not feed paper properly or problem paper feed sensor please try to resum button press when occard this E3 signal or clean sensor or claugth

Hi. Canon says this
E, 3
Paper jam.
If paper has jammed in the machine, clear the jam, reload the paper in the machine correctly and then press the Black or Color button.

There is another step to fix this, also from canon.
Issue: ERROR LED: E, 3
Solution: Press ON/OFF switch to reset the multifunction device

Reset the device when it is not functioning properly. If the device is not functioning properly or to clear memory, reset it.

this may come in handy:
Service mode operation procedures -
1) With the printer powered off but connected to a power source, press the Power button while pressing and holding
the Stop/ Reset button.
2) When the Power LED is lit, press the Stop/Reset button two times while pressing and holding the Power button.
3) When releasing the Power button and the Stop / Reset button (regardless of order), the printer will move into a
service mode. (Waiting for menu selection)

Paper jam problem in pixma mp145. E3 error.


I have trying resseting and the error message does not clear. I have checked the printer througly and there is no paper jam.

Printer Error E3


E3 error -
If paper has jammed in the machine, clear the jam, reload the paper in the machine correctly and then press [Black] or [Color].

The above is direct from the user manual.
If there is no paper jam - look for any small pieces of paper that could be located near the roller sensor.
