Re: Ok, maybe its a problem with the cable

Hi banerjen, I have not actually come up with the exact way to test the buttons. All I can offer is to do an autopsy of the reset/eject buton assembly, but not in a way to kill it. Use a volt meter set to ohms at a value of 20. You can read out the ribbon cable or wire cable, whichever model you have. The traces on the ribbon should read close to 0 ohm from end to end on each trace. If it read OL its bad. The switches I am not sure about. Never had any trouble with them. Ebay has supply of all the parts you will ever need at a great price.

My n64 isnt working the light on it comes on, nothing else works! i was thinking its because i have a flat screen and not a tube tv lol thanks.

hi there! i guess you have to take a look at the av cable, maybe it is not functioning at all or maybe it was defected. try to use another av cable that is also compatible with your television. you can brought it at any electronics shop. if the problem still not solve, try to bring your console at the shop and have it check, maybe there's a problem regarding the wires inside.

E 74, one red ring

E74: AV cable error... There is a problem with the AV cable, try using a different AV cable. If the cable is known to be working then there is a 90% chance it's a scaler chip problem (the "ANA" or "HANA" chip connected directly to the AV cable) in rare cases it is the GPU.

A proper Reflow and maybe X-clamp fix with repair this

Xbox 360 Video Problem

HI. Replacing the video cable would also be my first suggestion. The Xbox AV cable has many manufacturing faults. If you are using the original cable tat came with the unit, I suggest to replace it with newer model.

Now, if you experience the same issues after replacing the original AV cable, this will lead to a more serious issue that concerns the HANA chip. This chip is responsible for the transfer of information through the AV cables. The transfer port(the AV cable end that is inserted into the Xbox), is directly connected to this actual chip. If the internal connections to this chip have failed, or are failing, this will be the culprit. The chip will need to be replaced, or the solder joint will need to be resolderd. If this unit is still under warranty, I would suggest to contact Microsoft for a free repair ticket. Do Not open the case if the unit is still under the manufactures warranty. This action will void the warranty.

NOTE_ Try replacing the AV cable first.

Xbox switches on ok but no sound or vision output to tv?

If there are no red flashing lights around the power button, check your cables. The xbox doesn't like to be turned on without the A/V cable plugged in, so it might have come loose from the TV. I'd check the connecting point to the TV, and the TV settings (make sure it is set to the xbox input, and not, say, a DVD/cable box input)

The GPU (graphics chip) has been known to go bad quite easily on the xbox, but I wouldn't want to tackle repairing that unless you see the red lights blinking (which is a sure indicator that it needs to be repaired)

Xbox (not 360)

I think someone plugged an internet cable into the back of your xbox or this cable was in there already but now started to work.
If you do not want xbox live disconnect the cable or maybe change the settings to not 'search for x box live'
If you want live make sure the cable is connected to the internet and follow the instructions in the manual.

Hope that helped

Nah, its not a problem with the fuses ....

Hi banerjen, SInce your already into the unit, I know i give you some tips earlier. You may have a problem with the Reset/Eject Buttons. if the cable is connected, and you press them and nothing happens, We need to start looking at that. If the Red/Green led is not lighting, then someting could be wrong with the ribbon cable. Stay in touch, We will get there. I do not think it is a chip problem. Chip Problems usually are the LSER is not moving, or the DISC is not spining , or the CD tray is not opening.
