Question about Quasar SP-3235 32" TV
My original remote control stopped working, so I purchased a universal remote and went through all the codes - this one would not work either. I have several other universal remotes - different models and brands and coded them to the televison and none of the other four I tried would work either, so I have to conclude that something is wrong with the infrared light. Please let me know if and where this part can be purchased and if this can be accessed without having to take the entire set apart. Thanks gmommanurse
Hi, Based on your trying of different remotes, your conclusion is basically correct, however, it is very rare for the infrared receiver to go dead (or at least the sensor itself). Should this still be the case, there is no other way but to open the TV unit. Since the placement of the infrared receiver is to the front of the TV, chances are that what your are thinking "take the entire set apart." is the only way to do remove the infrared receiver. A guess would be the sensor which normally is available even in RadioShack. Your best bet may be to seek the services of a qualified professional willing to undertake component level repair rather than modular/PCB replacement. At times it may just be a loose connection inside the TV or no low B+ to the infrared receiver module/circuitry. Alternately, you can try to "borrow" an original remote and see if that will work just to really confirm. Some instances of this problem in some other brands/models got solved by resetting the TV (unplug for a couple of hours). Hope this be of some idea/help. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need further information. Good luck and kind regards.

Tips for a great answer:
Apr 21, 2016 | Universal Televison & Video
you are using a universal do not expect it to even if it programs to
have all the functions you need or want or had with the original remote.
Universal remotes are far from UNIVERSAL.
best argument for an original remote is even if it programs it will
just not have all the features needed or wanted that the original had.
Hope this clears things up a little.
