Sounds as if you may have the wrong software version and or Smartcard mismatch.
There were two versions of smartguard software: version 1.01 for Pro series and version 1.03 for DTC series.
The smart card must also match the printer series, it is printed on the card.
One other thing, some printers have the slot for the smart card but no smart card reader installed.
I am having the same exact problem with the Pro L. Did either one of you figure it out? I just spent $100 on the SmartGuard and now I cannot get it to work

I am having the same exact problem, but I have a Pro-L printer..(same as LX, just without the Mag Encoding capabilities) I was just wondering if you had gotten the problem figured out or not?? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
