I have the same problem. Sounds like it may be a problem with the camera. Have any of you tried contacting the manufacturer already.

Did a firmware update and still the same problem. What i did try that seems to have resolved the problem was fiddle with the iso settings by pressing the EX button on the left hand side. You will see the varrious iso settings - flip through them and you will notice that the camera makes a very distinct clicking sound. I kind of get the feeling that some mechanism in the camera might have got stuck after a while. There after make sure the flash is on auto.

The light might still flash - but atleast from here you should be able to take pics.. good luck.

I have the same problem but could not find any solution as yet. My work around is to switch of the flash and shoot with manual controls - of course that only works well when using a tripod or someting similar. I think it is a bug with the flash loader wich seems not to give the go for shooting until flash preload is finished. If anybody has a real solution I'd be happy to read. cheers e

I think it has something to do with the flash unit charging. I tried reseting it too. The manual is very unhelpful.
Turn off your flash, and you can take pictures.

I have been having this same problem. It doesn't happen everytime, but there have been a number of occasions when my Exilim Z850 would display a blinking red light and refuse to take pictures. I thought it was a battery issue, so I tried buying a new battery, eventhough I observed this problem soon after the camera was newly purchased. The new battery didn't help resolve the issue. So I do hope someone out there has figured out what's wrong and will let us know.

Battery flashing when charging why?

If the red light is flashing after inserting a NP-20 battery in the Casio Lithium Charger BC11-L, it means that the battery will not take a charge. Normally when putting the batterry in the charger, the light will be a constant red. After charging is complete, the red light will go out. Battery is then fully charged and ready for use.

My casio exilim ex-z60 wont switch on, I put battery in charger for hours and light flashed red constantly (overnight) so I plugged it into the computer with USB but nothing????

Thank you every one who posted solutions.
I was all set to try the 9 volt trick until i realised i didnt have one so i tried someone else's suggestion of constantly re-inserting the battery until the red light stays constant. Touch wood, but it seems to have worked.

Hello, I have a EX-Z8 Exilim Casio camera. The last time the battery ran out I put it in the charger as normal. However instead of having a constant red light, the red light has a continuous flashing. This...

If the charge lamp flashes red it means the battery is faulty or the battery is loaded in the charger incorrectly. Take the battery out and check if the contacts are dirty - wipe them with a dry cloth and try charging again. If the error continues, you have a faulty battery and need to buy a new one. I found a link for cheap replacement batteries at http://www.mymemory.co.uk/compatible-battery/Digital_Cameras/Casio/Casio+Exilim+EX-Z8?gb=1&prodid=12068
You may find it cheaper elsewhere, but these guys include delivery. Hope that helps.

Red light continually flashes, and won't take picture

I have seen this problem on the ex-s880 casio camera a few times sometimes you can go into the setup menu and reset the camera to default and that some times fixes it. it that does not work I have had to replace the flash circuit on the camera because the large compasitor is out and needs tobe replaces most likely this is your problem because of the flashing LED. Hope this helps its a great camera also you might want to check with casio because this should be covered under warrenty. If the camera was not dropped.

Set the camera to anything except no flash. Turn it off. Take out the battery. Wait 5-10 seconds. Put the battery back in. The flash should now work until you turn the camera off again (and then you must remove/replace the battery to get the flash working again).

The flash requires some kind of "master reset" to work. Haven't found a permanent solution to this.
