Sony 3LCD rear projection ghosting

Hi there, I have a 60" Sony 3LCD rear projection HDTV. Recently I've been noticing a blue-ish tinge especially in the center of the screen. Another symptom is it appears to be displaying a ghosted image of high contrast objects in blue over the top of whatever else is being displayed. It almost looks like burn-in, but it changes based on what's on the screen. Now and then I also get a large blob-like area of blue on the left of the screen. I've had it for about 2 years and used it pretty hard, so I'm wondering if replacing the lamp will fix this problem, or whether it is something worse? Thanks

Hm, some of the stuff I wrote didn't get submitted, interesting.

It's a Sony KF-WS60, the model before the current one, without full 1080 and hdmi, if that helps.

Recently I've been noticing a blue-ish tinge especially in the center of the screen and bottom right hand side of the screen. Moreover, another symptom is it appears to be displaying a ghosted image of high contrast objects in blue over the top of whatever else is being displayed. It almost looks like burn-in, but it changes based on what's on the screen.

The TV is 2 years old only.

What part do i need to replace and how $$$

    Thanks

I have a RT44sz80lb, and after 8 mths had blue blotches appear on screen at random, sent it off as still in warranty. (new chassis assy fixed it) Now appears to be happening AGAIN 2 yrs later! Is the same thing happening!

I have a Sony Grand WEGA 3LCD HDTV. The picture and sound flashes off momentarily and then comes back on. The green light stays on. What could be the problem?

This could be a sign the lamp used for brightness is about to fail, a lot of them do this sort of thing just before lamp fails in a total way.

My KDF-60WF655 has a green tinge to picture

Sony extended the warranty on there optical blocks because of problems like this, unfortunately the extension ended in Dec. '08. With some digging you could find more info on this but I don't think Sony will help any more. You could however try having your optical block rebuilt instead of buying a new one, should save you hundreds. Good luck!

The optical block is defective. Contact Sony support. Sometimes they will warranty these even after the 1yr warranty has expired. Have your model and serial numbers handy.

Sony 61" lcd has bluish spots in screen, any ideas?

Hello, inside the set there is an optical unit with 3LCD panels. Somehow the dust particles came into your set and now the dust is all over the optical unit and 3LCD panels. Only way to solve this issue is to clean the dust. Please contact your Sony dealer. Best regards, Arpi
