I just put a new motor on my dryer. It runs fine when I first turn it on. Then when I open the door the dryer stops, but the heating element is still on. I close the door and hit the start button again. The drum does not turn. The heating element continues to burn. If I turn it to the off position, the heating element goes off. Please help!
-   Similar: Have a Kenmore 10 year old dryer. After starting and then opening door to add an item, the dryer stops and cannot be reset for 1-2 hours. After stopping, when the electronic start button is pressed, a rubbing sound is heard. This happens often when others use the dryer and it ties up the dryer for a long time. After about 2 hours it starts to work again. Please help.

if the dryer worked fine before with the element not staying on when you open the door, etc, then what you have done is a very common mistake to make, you must have dislodged a wire off, or maybe placed one back in the wrong place, its a very easy error to make, which is why when removing parts for repair on any appliance you must make very detailed notes, better still take digital photographs with a digital camera
double check any wires etc, don't worry i am a retired appliance engineer and even we can make this mistake
