Hi, You can try: 1. go to Start, Printer and Faxes, right click on your 3745, click on Properties, Printing Preference; 2. Check to see if you have any Advanced tab or button; 3. Check if you can set the printer to text only; 4. Check if you can set the printer to use black ink only. 5. In MS Word, verify through the use of Print Preview that your document is as you would want to be printed; 6. In some instances you may have to set manually text color in MS Word. While your document is open, click Ctrl + A to select all, then choose font color to "Black". Alternately, in your MS Word, you can click on "Format", "Font", "Font Color" set to "Black" rather than "Automatic" and set this as the "Default" setting. Hope this be of some help/idea. Post back how things turned up or should you need further information. Good luck and kind regards.

Large ink spill. Printer no longer recognized new black cartridge.

You can perform the Tap 41 Cartridge Health Diagnostics Test: [applies to HP Deskjet 6800/6900/9800]
http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=1741 (refer to 2nd video to understand how to read the printed pattern)

1. With printer power on, press and hold the POWER button.
2. Press the Cancel (X) button four (4) times.
3. Press the RESUME button (Down Arrow) once.
4. Release the POWER button.
5. The Diagnostic Test Report should print.

--- A good HP 93/95/97/99 color cartridge should display 600 good nozzles, while a good HP 92/94/96/98 black ink cartridge should show 672 good nozzles. If the results yield anything different then the ink cartridge is likely damaged and will need to be replaced. Refer to 2nd video on how to read the printout: http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=1741

---- If the printer attempts to print the diagnostic test pattern (1 page) then the printer is generally considered operational and functional, if nothing is printed, but the printer attempts to print the pattern, then the tri-color ink cartridge is either empty, clogged or severely electrically damaged (black ink cartridge is not used). You can remove the tri-color cartridge, reactivate the tap 41 test and the printer will print the diagnostic test print in black ink (special "ink back-up mode").

I have an HP DeskJet 3745 Printer installed in Windows 7 32-bit. It's properly installed, and it actually works -- the power light is on, and the containers of the cartridges move when printing. Only that,...

uninstall the printer, and go to HP.com, download the install program for your printer and OS, and follow install directions exactly, do not plug and play.

Hp 3475 light goes on blinking, does not print

Hi

Either of the two problems make the printer blinks-.
check them out.

1. If you have given the printouts and all the pages are not printed then if there are pending printouts remaing in the printer properties the printer will blink continuosly.
2. Any of the 1 cartridge out of 2 may be faulty.
and last option if the printer cover is not closed properly it blinks.

Need drivers for win98

Looking at the HP site, this printer came out fairly recently--after windows 98 stopped being supported.
Here's a link that I found. It might work, but reading the stuff on it, the primary O/S is not 98--but maybe they are saying it does work:
http://www.driversdown.com/drivers/6244.shtml

If not, just Google "Windows 98 drivers for HP deskjet 3745" to get more suggestions.

Good luck.

Printer does not print

The following hints might help:
1. It is better to reinstall the driver (from hp site)
2. Do not on the printer until the usb cable is plug to computer
3. If it happens offen, you need to off the printer using printer switch and not from power source. You may have a habit of unplugging the usb cable without off the printer swich.. this will later lead to switch chip damage.
