I have an Acer Aspire 9300 Series Notebook that won't hold power long enough to boot up. It was bought used without the factory issued power cord. I examined the back panel and the only thing not present I think is a pci card. This however isn't a requirement for boot, or am I wrong? Also can I use a different power cord & if so any ideas what I should use? It takes a 19 volt 4,74A DC charger. The Model No. on the sticker is MS2195. Thanx , nigelflrs@yahoo.ca.
-   I'm having the same problem, only I use an Acer Extense 4420. When I turn the computer on, the screen stays black, the power light turns green, but then the computer shuts itself off. I've tried everything I know to do.
You can use any generic power supply which will give 19V at at least 4.5A. IIRC there are a number which do 19V at 5A available from any largish online electronics retailer (I'm in the UK so I don't know who in Canada would be good for this). I presume by pci card you mean PCMCIA (now often called simple "PC"). No, you don't need that to boot it. However, if there is a card missing from the back of the machine, that's a little worrying - PC card slots are usually on the side. There are a few laptops which really do have a mini PCI slot but that also doesn't normally need anything in it for the the machine to boot.
