Jenn-Air w156 Single Wall Oven Problem

This is an Electronic Jenn air oven that dates back to the early 1990's. It will not stay on. When I press the electronic controls to bake the oven will only stay on a few seconds and then goes off. When I press the electronic controls to broil the same thing happens. When I press the electronic controls for the clean setting it too goes off after a few seconds. (few seconds is around 10-15 for all scenarios.) Same thing also in the convection bake setting. Also under all cases I have felt the bake element and or broiler element after the the oven goes off after the few seconds and there is no signs of heat at all.

My oven is on its 2nd circuit board and this one has been dying for about the last year. Symptoms are the same as last time. Display blanks out due to heat of cooking and then comes back after oven cools off. Over time the board starts to lose time, lose temperature and then eventually the entire display goes dark and doesn't come back. Jenn air evidently does not want to solve the problem by using a more robust circuit board, so we have decided to dump the POS and buy another oven from a different manufacturer. I will not invest in Jenn air again, all looks and no longivity.

This is a manufacturing (design) defect and if they want to keep customers they should provide an alternative, more robust pc board. At the least they should provide the replacement circuit board at low cost. It is just a stupid pc board with nothing more advanced than a wall thermostat. My latest estimate was $500 to replace it. No thanks. Good riddance Jenn air.

Most likely its the EOC (electronic oven control), it needs to be replaced. If you self cleaned the oven a lot the very high heat generated fatigues computers in modern ovens.

What does F1 mean on my oven

F1 code for Jenn Air is related to the main electronic control board. If you can turn your breaker off for a few minutes then back on it may reset. If not you will most likely need a new control board. Depending on your model number and age there may be extended warranty on the parts, check with Jenn Air to be sure
