Error 13.01.00 - Jam in Tray 2. There is no jam. We've changed the pickup roller and separation pad twice. Problem started after technician installed the first pickup roller/separation pad set for routine maintenance. The roller spins and error occurs after 3rd spin. The paper is left in the tray and there is rubber deposited on the paper from the roller. The tray guides are set correctly in the tray. Should I replace the whole pickup assembly?

The paper jams regularly but not consistently. It may pick up paper on the first try or the second or third spins. Since we've changed the roller twice (one by a technician and once ourselves) I think it is locked into place correctly.

I've ordered a pickup assembly as recommended by the part supplier, part rm1-3762 or 5851-4012 (new HP part #). Can anyone give me installation instructions for this?

We bought the HP LaserJet Enterprise 500 MFP M525f and love it! As for the M3027, the assembly that works the roller and sensor was broken somewhere and the whole assembly needed swapping out. Our printer technician attempted this but there were too many parts that have to be removed he gave up after almost 3 hours. Although, he got the new part in, the rest of the parts didn't go back so well. The printer is in pieces. One good thing is that we'll get a $200 trade-in rebate from HP. For everyone else, just use tray 1, until you can get a new printer. LOL

Try it without the separation pad. Since the problem started after the maintenance, it may nt be in properly. As you are getting the rubber on the paper, the roller is turning, but the paper is not going anywhere giving the error

Testimonial: "Thank you for the suggestion but the printer is totalled now."

SOURCE: replace the tray 2 pickup roller assembly

The tray two pickup roller is a roller in the front of the tray. Remove tray 2 and place it on a level work surface. Locate and open the cover that is
next to the roller in tray 2.
Pinch the blue latch that is on the left side of the roller. Slide the roller off of the shaft.
Then you can slide the new roller back in.
CAUTION When you install this roller, make sure that it locks into place. Verify that the
roller is correctly oriented, and that the round, black spacer next to the roller is correctly
positioned against the locking pin on the shaft.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

Brother 7840w keep getting paper jam inside open front door and remove paper from drum, I cleared jam and try printing same error again I change durm and still no good.

Most jams in this area of a printer are caused by two things: The Pickup Roller and the Separation Pad in the Tray. You can clean the roller with a coffee filter and water or use a non-amonia based cleaner. I suggested the coffee filter for several reasons:
Cheap, Lint Free & Durable. Now as to the Separation Pad: Rough up the pad with a sharp knife [lightly please!] or rub with steel wool. this should be done if the pad feels slick when you rub you finger over it. Also, check the registration sensor flag which is usually just under the toner cartridge or just before it. If that flag is sticking, or slow to return to its correct position, the signal detects its late and stops all paper movement thinking it's jammed.

I don't know what printer you have, but this applies to all printers. The first paragraph is just for inkjets. The the whole is related to laser printers.

85% of paper jams are caused by worn rollers. The rubber treads in the rollers wears down, making them smooth, so they won't pick up the paper. Sometimes, they are aged, which also gives them a smoother rounded texture, causing jams. The quick fix is to liven up that roller with a mixture of alcohol and soap. Damp a rag with the solution and wipe the rollers clean with it. That's make them more pliable and the paper jams will cease.

Metal Tab Separation- Pull out your paper tray and examine either end where the paper sits in. If any of the corners are held down by metal tabs, this is your paper feed system. Chances are, you only have one rubber roller or one set of rollers arranged along side of each other. Reach in where the tray goes and feel up. You should feel some rollers. They might be completely round, or they might be shaped like a half moon. Clean whichever part of them you can with the solution, and this should stop your paper jams. It might be necessary to turn them, but don't force them if they don't move freely.

Pickup Roller and Separation Pad-

If your printer uses this paper feed system, you should see a small piece of flat or slightly curved rubber or cork. It would be towards the end of the paper tray, or deep inside the paper loading cavity on top loaders. This 'separation pad' rubs against the paper feed roller, so if you find the pad, you've found the roller. Clean it and your jams should stop.

Three Roller Paper Separation System- Pull your paper tray out, and look for a roller on either end of it. If you find one, clean it. Then look inside the printer where that roller would rest with the paper tray inserted. You'll find another paper roller there. Clean this one also. Finally, look further back or closer to the front of your printer (depending on which way your paper feeds) to find another roller or set of rollers. Clean all of these, and your paper jams will go away

Replace the pick-up and feed rollers.

Hello. During printing I often can see error message 13.01.00 - paper jam, but really nothing jammed. I have printer HP LaserJet p3005. Thanks

Your printer has a misfeeding problem.
It never fed any paper so the sensor never sensed paper and thinks that there was a jam.
Try using the manual feed tray. If that works, pull out tray 2 and clean the feed roller . Is this printer
up to date on its maintenance? The feed roller might have to be replaced.

Jams in tray 2

Table 7-10 Causes of tray 2 jams

Cause Solution

The feed or separation rollers are dirty, worn, or damaged. Clean the rollers. If they are dirty after cleaning, or if they are

worn or damaged, replace the rollers.

The pickup roller is worn or damaged. Replace the pickup roller.

The tray 2 paper pickup assembly drive gears are damaged

or the assembly is defective.

Check the drive gears in the paper pickup drive assembly.

Replace the pickup drive assembly if the gears are

damaged. See Paper-pickup drive assembly.

The tray 2 pickup solenoid (SL101) is damaged. 1 Disconnect the connector for the tray pickup solenoid

from the dc controller PCA (location J92).

2 Measure the resistance between the cable connectors.

3 If the measured resistance is not approximately

160 ohms for the HP LaserJet 4200/4300, or 110 ohms

for the HP LaserJet 4250/4350, replace the tray 2

pickup solenoid.

The tray 2 lifter-drive assembly or the stack position

sensor (PS107) is defective.

Replace the lifter-drive assembly. See Tray 2 lifter-drive

assembly and/or Printer switches and sensors.

The dc controller PCA is defective. Replace the dc controller PCA. See Dc controller PCA.

Dirty, worn, or deformed pick-up roller, cassette separation

roller, and cassette feed roller.

Clean the rollers if they are dirty. Replace any worn or

deformed rollers. The cassette separation roller and the

cassette feed rollare are to be replaced together.

Damaged gears in the cassette pick-up drive unit. Move the gears in the cassette pick up drive unit. If the

gears are not rotating correctly, or are damaged or worn,
replace the cassette pick-up drive unit.

Paper jam light is blinking, cannot find any jam

You may be having a problem with your paper sensors. You may need to have the printer serviced by a technician to verify. This problem seems to be a regular event with this model.

It doesnot picup paper and syas 13.01.00 paper jam in tray 2

Hello,
The 13.01.00 error indicates the printer can't pickup paper from the paper tray. This is caused by worn pickup rollers and separation pad. If you pull out the paper tray and set the printer on its side and look under the bottom you will see a rubber coated roller on a white axle, this is the pickup roller. The roller should have a rough surface, when they wear down the surface becomes smooth and it will not grip the paper it pick it up. If you would like to get a full roller kit we have them in stock, check our web site at:

Shows paper jam. pull out tray and close and it prints

It sounds like either the pickup rollers or separation pad. Check to see if the rollers in the tray feel worn and smooth. If they are smooth, they need to be replaced.

HP 2420 Tray 2 Open or Empty

Needs feed roller replaced, you can see it when you remove cassette and look up, they wear and tray one uses a diiferent feed roller hence it still works. Cleaning the roller (rag with a little metho) sometimes helps but it should be replaced otherwise it will return.
