I recently purchased a used HP Designjet 2500CP. When starting it will go through the Initializing stages, but I can't get past a printhead contact error. I've done the cleaning and other procedures to correct the problem, but nothing seems to work. Is there anything I can do short of replacing the ink systems? Rick. Backcountry Photo LLC.

You need to go to the hp download site and download the System Maintenance Utility Software. Its free, but you need it before you can clean the print heads. also, for some reason it works best when hooked to the network, not directly to Computer.

Hello. You probably have a worn out trailing cable. The manual says:
System Error: 010036 (see next page for 010036 0000XX00)
Problem Description: ADC Test Failure in the Main PCA.
Corrective Action: Try the following:
Switch the Printer OFF from the back and
then disconnect the Trailing Cable from the
Electronics Module. Switch the Printer ON and
see if the Error Code now changes to “010037”.
If the error code remains as “010036”, replace
the Electronics Module page 8-6.
If the Error Code changes to “010037” then try
the following:
Make sure that the Trailing Cable is
connected correctly.
Replace the Trailing Cable page 8-36.
Replace the Carriage Assembly page 8-42.
The manual can be downloaded at: www.lpscomputer.com/ec/manuals.htm

This can be caused by a faulty electronics module, trailing cables, printhead carriage assembly, or ANY of the stepper motors.
try this...
Switch the printer off from the back, and then disconnect the trailing cables from the electronics module.
Switch the printer back on.
If the error code changes to '010037'
If the error stays as 010036, change the Electronics Module.
If it is 010037, replace the trailing cables, then the carriage assembly.
