How do you find the air filter on a view sonic pj501 and clean it

E1-Automatic filter clean reminder.

Turn the air conditioner OFF and unplug it. NOTE: The air conditioner must be unplugged for the automatic filter clean timer to reset.

Clean the filter. See the Care and Cleaning section in your use&care manual. After cleaning, replace the filter and plug the air conditioner back in.

is the filter timer enabled. what are the total filter hours it has recorded.
is the air filter and vents clean etc.
it seems to be getting too hot as you suggest

You can reset the "Filter Time" on your projector and it will clear this error out of the system.

1) Clean Filter
2) Turn the power on
3) Hit the Menu button
4) Once the menu appears choose "Options"
5) Choose "Filter Time"
7) While the time is displayed hold the "Reset" button on the remote for 3 seconds
8) The "Reset" menu will pop-up and choose reset.

That should take care of it.

Procedure for resetting filter time.
Pressing the RESET button for about 3 seconds displays the FILTER TIME menu. Select the RESET using button to reset the timer. : RESET <- CANCEL Selecting the RESET resets the count of the lamp timer to 0. memo Perform this function only when you have cleaned or replaced the air filter. The filter timer counts the used time of the air filter after cleaning or replacement, to display the messages about the air filter. Incorrect performing causes incorrect operation of the messages. memo About caring for the air filter, please refer to the section "Air Filter".

2 issues- the light filter on one of the lcd panels is burnt due to excessive dust and heat. and one of the lcd panels is shot. time to replace the entire optical engine, unless you can get the prism assembly. otherwise, replace the projector. if you do, remember to keep it clean.

go into the menu. it should be in the same menu as the lamp timer. as for cleaning the filter, use canned air.

clean out the projector with canned air. the dust is keeping in the heat and the lamp can't cool down. check the fans, too. check the lamp timer. if it's close to 2000 hours, replace the lamp and reset the timer.

If the indicators or a message prompts you to clean the air filter, clean the air filter as soon as possible. If the soiling will not come off the air filter, or it becomes damaged, then it needs to be replaced. Please replace the air filter as soon as possible. memoWhen you replace the lamp, please replace also the air filter. Turn off the projector, and unplug the power cord. Allow the lamp bulb to cool for at least 45 minutes. Apply a vacuum cleaner to the top of the filter cover and the air filter to clean. If the soiling will not come off the air filter, or it becomes damaged, it needs to be replaced. If the air filter needs to be replaced, contact your dealer to prepare a new air filter. Tell the dealer your air filter type. Turn on the projector power, and reset the filter timer. (1) While the projector running, press the MENU button to open the menu.
