Very very low sound

Most of the time that I have seen this is when the old system did not require amplified ( powered ) speakers, because the amplification was done on the motherboard or sound card.

The new motherboard requires the use of amplified ( powered ) speakers.

If the speakers you are using do not have a power button/switch and a volume control, then you will need to replace your speakers.

you can probably get replacement amplifed speakers for as little as $10 at radio shack, and upwards of $200 if you want to turn your pc into an entertainment center, so it is all a matter of how much you want to spend and the quality of the sound you want to hear.

My suggestion is that if you just want to hear " you've got mail".. etc.. just get some cheap speakers and you will be fine.

Please take a moment to rate this solution...

Cache memory is available inside the processor. So in order to increase the Cache you need to change your Processor.

Upgrade of ram

Your board Support 168-pin SDRAM DIMM and 184-pin DDR DIMM (Can't Use DIMM & DDR SDRAM memory Together).
I would run the 184-pin DDR. Supports PC1600/PC2100 DDR DRAM up to 2BG Max. Since you have four memory slots 2x512mb of DDR PC2100 = 1GB would be plenty. You will notice programs load faster & games run smoother. Personally, 2Gb. may help but you will not see the difference. To see a difference it is not all about memory. Mb bus speed, CPU, chipset & speed of video memory all play a part with regards to Pc overall speed. You can download your manual here.:
You can download the specs of your board here.:
And below is a link for some good ram.:
This should all help you decide, best wishes!

Want to up grade to 2g ddr mem

is this your board?

well, if this is your board, you can upgrade your ram to 2gb howerver since it is a dual ram...(SDRAM and DDR) you cant use all the slots at 1 time since they are of different frequencies.

you can use DDr266 (pc2100) as your RAM since this board is a socket A as it is said here in the boards specs.

hope this helps
