Hi,
The movies are freezing because the DVD is having a hard time keeping up data moving from the Temp Ram transfered by the lens reader. The problem is the lens, try to get a lens cleaner, or you can replace the lens should it persist after that. This should tackle him, and no more frozen movies. :)
It depends on the condition of your dvds and how old your player is.
try using a DVD disc cleaner. This cleaner looks just like a disc with some extra little brushes on its surface. Some DVD cleaner kits even come with supplies to clean and modify scratches on your discs. if this dont work you may want to get a new player..

Unless you have good / fast access to the Internet (or wireless or 4G network), it may take a long time to download a movie to your device. If the speed of download is slower than the speed of the play, the picture freezes ... essentially, it is waiting for the completion of the download for the next few frames (of the movie). That is why the picture freeze .... and it will start again after sufficient data has been download to continue / start playing (the movie) again.
Had the same issue. Next It will start doing the same thing with your PS3 games. Your blue-ray/lazer is going out it will quit working soon. Alot of PS3 have bad lazers in them. I replaced mine works great now.
Grease the slide rails with a little smudge of vaseline - especially if the mechanism is noisy. There is another reason for it that I have not worked out, but on 2 machines the grease did the trick.
