You probably need to replace your toner, or there might be a problem with the printer itself. If toner replacement doesn't help, consider contacting Brother for a repair quote or buying a new printer.

Good luck!

Printer leaves look of burn marks as granular shadow over page

If the paper really is being burnt then there is a fault with the fuser roller temperature control. This would also make a smell. If this gray sheen is made of toner then this may be the laser unit not putting out enough power. The optics could be dirty. One thing to try before attempting repair- Reduce the print density to minimum in the printer advanced settings. This increases the Laser power. Good luck

Hello, our printer prints with lots of black smears on the paper. I am using white paper and it comes out looking like I colored the whole page with black crayons. How can I fix this?

Try changing the toner first, if you have one accesible. If the toner is coming off the paper on your hand you need to replace the fuser.

Savin 2545 document feeder gives a gray band on the copies

Yes - surprisingly - we had the same problem, the gray stripe along the side of the page only showed up when the original was fed through the document feeder on top. Cleaned the small area of glass under the feeder repeatedly with no change to the resulting stripe, but then while cleaning the upper roller, above the area of glass where the scan lamp illuminates during the copying from the ADF, we found a small piece of paper adhering to the top roller in the paper path, cleaned it off, and no more band. We didn't see the bit of paper on the upper roller until we rolled it while cleaning. Still can't figure how that made a stripe....but hope this helps you.

NO I have the same problem as listed here "the canon pixma MP520. It says there's a paper jam but I can't clear it and the paper wonlt go through. I've got a horrible feeling something fell in and got...

You can try putting and index card or something stiff like that back thru the paper path to push back whatever is stuck. Look real close with your torch thru the spaces in the white guides that are over the long gray platen roller. Also the gray roller could have scratch marks in the area where the object is jammed. Be careful not to push back the sensor lever that is on the right side behind the white guides.

Hi, the printed pages come out with a gray film over most of the page

Do a "half test". Print a few pages, as the printer prints open the top cover. Pull out the toner and look down at the paper. If it has the gray cast, you have a bad toner cartridge or a bad transfer roller.
It could also be a dirty ground. Try vacuuming out the inside of the printer especially around the transfer roller.

Gray background where printo on glossy paper 130g/m2

hello

this sounds like a bad black ink cart, or the fuser rolls built into the printer are dirty.

you can swap out a black cart to test that theory, you can also just print a single blank page (no text or graphics) onto a piece of glossy paper and see if there is anything there after its gone thru the printer.

if the piece of paper has stuff on it it had to come from the rollers inside the printer.

service required, unless your comfortable changing out parts in your printer.

Lines down both the left side of the printouts.

good day,

this usually occurs when you print large volume of copies of documents that goes beyond the printable area of the paper, some powders stick in the roller of your printer hence making the gray streak.

you can check if the rollers have accumulated some powder, if so, have the rollers cleaned.

i hope this will help.

Black dotted lines accross the whole page

Jason,

If the whole page is covered with stuff that's not supposed to be there, and that stuff sometimes changes shape or color on each page. then you look to the DRIVERS and connection 1st. Corrupt printer memory can also cause this.

If the corruption tends to be consistent across print jobs and it's only on certain spots on the page, you can start to look for mechanical defects.

Can you describe in more detail?
