Again as others have done, you have answered your own question, simply disassemble the unit to remove the old cord and do an internet search or check local hardware stores for a replacement cord. This is much easier than posting on here for help.

First the power cord seemed to have a short in it and would only work if the cord was supported and left in that position . Next it stopped beeping when the stitches were changed. Now it does not work at...

A short would cause a bight spark and burning of the cord at the place of the short.
Sound like you have a poor electrical connection at or inside the machine where the cord attaches.
Take it to a repair shop.

Yes this still can be fix but better if you can take it to a repair center near you so they can really diagnose the problem with this device and probably there will be some parts that needs to be replace....

Euro-Pro iron 1600 watts jsut stopped working. No lights, power... any suggestions??

First check out your power cable.
Then if you can open, see if there is any fuse, checkout that.

And if still not fixed, then you should take this to a technician.

Thanks

My husqvarna meister model 2841 sews flatout

That control should be repairable. You could open it just to see if a wire has come loose and touching the other wire causing it to short. Dont loose the cord, you can use a generic controll but you need that cord.

Machine shut off will not turn back on viking designer 1

Did you check the power cord both at the sewing machine and at the wall plug? Push them both in firmly. Check the power cord along its whole length to make sure it is not broken. Replace it if you find any serious rips in the plastic outer casing of the cord. No need for a special Husqvarna power cord - a small appliance cord with the same plugs at either end is all that is needed.

Did you hear a "popping" noise when the machine turned off? You may have a short in the transformer in which case it needs to go to the technician.

Elna supermatic...the light comes on ,,but nothing else works

Turn the machine on, press the foot control down and turn the handwheel backwards. If it sputters, the motor carbon brushes are worn to the springs and need replacing.

Next, while pressing on the foot control, try wiggling the wires around where it enters to machine and where it enters the foot control. There may be a short in the cord. If the short is at the machine, you need a new cord. If it is at the foot control, the cord can be pulled into the foot control, the shorted part cut off and the connection reattached.

If it still doesn't work, try removing the cord from the machine and placing an alligator clip test lead to two of the inlet prongs on plugging it into power. Which two prongs you ask? Try several combinations, (one will light up the lamp) CAREFUL: THE MACHINE MAY SUDDENLY TAKE OFF AT FULL SPEED, SO REMOVE THE BOBBIN, THE THREAD AND NEEDLE FIRST. if it runs, it is your foot control. If it doesn't run, it's likely the motor brushes or motor.

Husqvarna Sewing Machine starts sewing when power switched on

The problem is probably the foot control. The little wires wrapped around the insulator have broken and are shorting against each other or the cord itself has a short. You can purchase an aftermarket foot control at your local shop, this is the cheapest way to try first, if that does not correct the problem replace the cord.
