Anytime a fuse trips it is due to too much load on a circuit-or over heating-tear down the machine and clean out lint look for it in the ducts that exhausts out of the house and even the outside flap-cheers Denny

SOURCE: Can anyone please tell me where the thermal fuse

Hello Tom, welcome to FixYa.

I'll start by saying your post indicates it is a Maytag MDE9700AYW dryer. I'm not sure if you know this, but this particular Maytag is built by Samsung.

To address your question as to where the thermal fuse is located on your dryer, it is one the heater housing, there is a hi-limit and a thermal fuse. If the Thermal fuse/safety is gone, replace the hi-limit as well.

Here is a chart to identify which thermostat is which and it's location, the resitance value to check for and part number for replacement.

macmarkus_887.jpg

Once you've gain access to them you'll need to remove at least one wire to check the continuity...the values are shown in the above chart (basically it's either open or closed)
As far as part, there are a couple of places I prefer, on-line at "searspartsdirect.com" or "repairclinic.com".

**unplug the appliance and turn off the gas supply before attempting any service...safety first**

Let me know how you make out or if you require further assistance and I'll do whatever I can. Good luck.

Regards,

Macmarkus :)

Remove the screws from the bracket from the vent tube at the back of the dryer.
You can access the belt from there.
If the belt is off then the tensioner will push a switch to shut the dryer down.
Just hook the belt back on or replace the belt whatever needs to be done.
See other posts for this model number on how to connect the belt back if it came off.
They do that when turned the wrong direction.

I have the same problem--it is the heating element. Bad news is they don't make the part anymore. The solution from maytag.com is to buy a new one and they will reimburse you 15%...not a very good solution considering how much this one cost and the amount of years it has been used.
If you find a place that sells the heating element please post!

SOURCE: MAYTAG NEPTUNE ERROR CODE OE

The "oe" code indicates a water pressure problem. Remove the water supply hoses and check the small metal screens inside the water inlet valve. Make sure they are clear of rust or debris. Check the water inlet valve solenoids. They can can be tested using a multimeter or ohmmeter. Check for continuity. A lack of continuity means a bad solenoid I will attach a photo for reference. Hope this helped and best wishes.

SOURCE: error code of "dc" on my TL Maytag Neptune

If your machine is FAV6800AW or FAV9800AW the dc/UC errors are caused by a clutch malfunction. Your machine is shutting down with those errors so your Tub Displacement Sensor is working as designed.

Fix the Clutch malfunction and you can wash a single sock or a load of blue jeans and you will not take the dc or UC unbalance errors. See this post for the fix.

Post back if you have questions or need help.

Have you checked the thermal fuses? The main cause of dryers not starting is the thermal fuse.

Make sure all air flow passages are clear. On both sides of the fan, the incoming air vent and the exhaust air vent, all the way to out side of the home.

Check your lint filter, exhaust duct, and check if duct flapper is opening fully or not. Allow some time between loads and don't stuff too many clothes.

Maytag dryer has power but does nothing when i hit the start button took buuten off points look to be clean

Hello there:
Here is the most common reasons for this to happen so please investigate these fully please keep me posted if you need further information
Door switch If the door switch or the door-switch actuator is defective, the dryer won't work and you need to replace the failed component. The switch is inside the dryer main housing near the door frame. Sometimes you need to raise or open the top or front of the dryer to reach the switch. Thermal fuse On many dryers, there's a thermal fuse (a heat-sensitive fuse that blows if the dryer overheats) mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel. The fuse is about an inch long. It's usually embedded in black resin and mounted in a white plastic housing.

If the fuse has blown, it has no continuity. When this happens, your dryer either just stops heating, or it doesn't work at all. Be sure to inspect the venting/heating system before replacing the fuse to put the dryer back into operation. (You can't re-set this type of fuse.)
Wiring Often the main wiring connection from the house, at the dryer, burns and the connection breaks. In this has happened to your dryer, you need to replace the power cord and the terminal block inside the dryer to which the wire is attached.

Maytag dryer is less than 3 years old. Blew thermal fuse. Cleaned all of the venting inside and out. dryer still overheating and blowing the thermal fuse. Replaced the thermal fuse and the high temp sensor...

Have you tried replacing the operating thermastat it's what shuts it off at the right temp and would cause the thermal fuse to go if it is not shuting.off at the right temp. It happens.
Hope this helps.

I have a Maytag Dryer that stopped in the middle of a cycle and there is no lent at all and the dryer will not come back on..

Possibly a blown thermal fuse. May have to call repair man. Pull bottom panel and ohm our thermal fuse, just behind blower, lint trap assy. Also, check for clogged vent. This sometimes causes the thermal fuse to blow.

My dryer quit working in the middle of a cycle. Dont know what happen. Its a Maytag PYE 3360AYW dryer, we've had it for awhile.

Disconnect power38732b7.jpg882727e.jpge4ad6bc.jpg58c0a23.jpgThat thermal will blow and kill power to the door switch circuit. The dryer will no longer function till you replace the thermal fuse. 0bdf7e1.jpgFailure to temove lint will cause continued thermal fuse replacement.

Electric Maytag Neptune Dryer not heating up.

If the dryer won't heat up, the problem is typically either a blown thermal fuse or a faulty heating element. The thermal fuse is located just inside the back of the dryer on or near the exhaust duct. It is about one inch long. The thermal fuse and heating element can be tested using an ohm meter or multimeter. These components should have continuity. If either does not, that component is faulty. There is no telling if the moving around of the machine caused the problem or if the timing of the problem was coincidental. Sure hope this helps ya and best wishes.
