How do I locate and remove the TURN SIGNAL FLASHER IN A 1998 NISSAN PATHFINDER


Remove the clamshell, the semi-circular shaped trim cover that sits on the top of the steering column just in front of the steering wheel. The hazard flasher button protrudes through this piece of trim. The clamshell can be unseated by prying gently on the edges with the screwdriver. Set the clamshell aside.
Remove the multifunction switch retaining screw with the Philips screwdriver. The screw is located in the body of the switch, holding it to the steering column.
Disconnect the wiring harness from the multifunction switch by hand and lift it out of the steering column.
Put the replacement multifunction switch in position and reinstall the retaining screw with the Philips screwdriver. Connect the wiring harness back into the body of the multifunction switch.
Place the clamshell back in position, making sure the hazard flasher button protrudes through the hole and push down gently until the clamshell snaps back into position. In some model years, you may need to coax the retaining clips on the edges of the clamshell into the seats on the connecting trim panels.
Test the turn signals, head lights and hazard flashers before driving the Expedition.

Most likely a bad APP (accelerator pedal position) sensor. You're basically gonna have to replace the entire gas pedal assembly... But it's super easy (so long as you know how to use a socket wrench), so don't freak out. The assembly is held on by two bolts & connected to the computer through a wiring harness. I've seen new assemblies go for anywhere from $60 all the way up to $120, so shop around. Or, if you're comfortable buying used, find an Impala of the same year in a salvage yard and yank it out of that. Simply remove the two bolts that secure the assembly to the floor pan, then disconnect the wiring harness (you may need a philips head screwdriver or something to help remove the clip that keeps the wiring harness securely connected). Pull off the old assembly, put on the new one, bolt it down to the floor pan & reconnect the wiring harness (don't forget to put the clip back in). In some cases, the code will need to be cleared using an ODB-II diagnostics tool (any mechanic or dealership service department will have one & it only takes a minute to clear it), but sometimes it resets itself (this happened in my personal situation). Once the code is cleared, the warning messages & lights will stop popping up on the dash & you're good to go! Hope this helped.... Good luck!

what kind of car is it your problem maybe with the factory wireing try to run indevidual wire without the factory harness the factory may have a built in amp and the will cause all kinds of problems if you dont know how to bypass it

The four RCAs are for the speaker outputs.They plug into the rear of the Pioneer unit (front and rear outputs). Also, you didn't mention the model number of the wiring harness (necessary to properly diagnose the situation) but, some these units have one or two philips head dials to adjust the volume of the stereo and the volume of the chime. These dials may be on the side of the unit or, oyu may need to open the casing to see them.

When I turn my TV on it plays just fine for about 10 minutes. Then it goes to black and white. If I turn it off for a few minutes and then turn it back on, the color returns for a few minutes and them goes...


The tube harnesses may be a little loose and when tube warms they short. Try adjusting the wiring harnesses. (Only attempt to do so if you have electronics knowledge.)

Need to find a wiring harness


I would need further information: What most people do not realize is that a wiring harness is not a "one size fits all" thing. There are two harnesses that you may need.

To remove your factory car stereo and install a new aftermarket car stereo there are wiring harnesses for most cars that will plug right in to the wires from your old factory radio.
For that, you will need to buy the correct wiring harness for the year and make of your vehicle. Say, for example: 1987 Toyota.

Then there is a wiring harness for the specific car stereo. You will need the make and model number of the unit itself. Example: JVC model KD-AVX77.

Air/fan/heat only works on high in 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee


look under the glove box. it is up high and requires removing to the glove box at times to fully access it. it also requires a star bit to remove it. sometimes a philips head will get the job done too. unfortunately the wiring harness gets cooked when this relay fails. you will see this when you take the relay apart. this requires cutting the harness free and putting the wires into the new harness that comes with the repair kit you can buy from the dealership. the kit comes with large size and smaller size wire. you can disregard the smaller size wire. you only need the larger ones. you will see. www.wjjeeps.com is a great reference for repair. tis what i used.

Ignition switch


1. Disconnect battery.
2. Remove airbag, two hex/torx/or philips head screws in the back of the bag holding it in.
3. Remove wheel. 24mm socket required for this. This is expose the clock spring area. Inspect that.
4. Remove top steering column cover. Two philips screws holding in under the bottom cover. Top cover comes off. The wiring for the horn is in there as well.
5. Remove instrument cluster. Two screws holding that in. Have a flat head handy as well to aid in unplugging the connectors for the cluster.
6. You will see the ignition switch to your right and the harness. Put key in ignition, remove harness, just unplugs. How there will be two small screws holding in the switch. Often, if the switch has never been replaced, they will be covered by a red paint. Take a small philips screw driver and loosen the two screws, no need to remove em. Ignition switch should just slide out.
7. Have new switch handy. No more than $40 even from dealer. Slide switch in. Its good to remember the way the old one came out. Screw down switch, plug in harness.
8. Install the cluster, column cover, and wheel in reverse order from above.

Installing after market stereo


Dave,

You will need to go buy a wiring harness adapter from your local Walmart (usually cheapest there) or Local Electronics place (ie Best Buy). The wire harness that goes out from the radio goes into the Adapter and the adapter plugs into the car harnesses. Also these Adapters come with the wiring diagrams for your vehicle. They typically run 10 - 15 bucks depending on where you get them. Thanks for using FixYa!
