Question about Whirlpool GHW9100L Front Load Washer

1 Answer

I have a Whirlpool Duet Model GHW9100LW1 front loading washer. We had a 6 hour power outage a couple weeks ago while the machine was in operation. The next time I used it, it stopped mid cycle and displays an error message starting with "P". I've been able to restart the machine by selecting the rinse/spin or spin to finish up, but it gets stuck mid-cycle every time I use it now. I tried unplugging it and letting the power dissipate, hoping that would "reboot" it. That has not helped. I don't see anything in the manual regarding a power outage. Can anyone give me a clue on what to do?

Was your power outage due to a storm as in lightening-may have cooked your machine-may also be covered by your home owners insurance-cheers denny

No, not a storm. The power sub-station had a major failure. (less than a mile form us) Insurance is a good suggestion, I will look into that, but I doubt that it will be covered. In the mean time, the machine functions (other than the dead stop mid cycle).

Update: I've found that the machine only stops mid-cycle during the longest cycle. If I use the "heavy" and not the "whitest white" cycle, it will get all the way finishes without stopping. It still displays the error code with the longest cycle though.

the error code P doesn't show up in the manual-I feel like you got a power surge of some kind otherwise what the washer is doing was a coincidence

SOURCE: F D/L and F11 error codes

I have a Kenmore (Whirlpool) front loader He3t that begin having the same problem after 2 years. I researched the problem and tried everything. The door lock mech. and all wiring was fine. Finally I stumbled upon a way to clear the error. (It still shows up once in a while.) The following has worked for me CONSISTENTLY about 25 times.
1) Remove top washer cover.
2) Disconnect the connector for the door switch on the control box.
3) Reach around and push any cycle button (normal, delicate, etc.)
4) Now hit the Cancel button.
5) Reconnect the door switch connector to the control box.
6) Reach around and push any button again. The clicking stops for me.
7) Replace the washer cover and use normally.

Hope this works for someone else!
There must be something getting latched up in the control board. And it gets reset.

SOURCE: Code F1 @ Whirlpool Duet Sport Washer

An F1 is almost always a defective main control board. Could try unplugging the unit for a few minutes and see if it will reset. The part # for the board is W10110072. Sears sells it for $119.46 http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/getSubComp.pd?modelNumber=WFW8300SW01&productCategoryId=0153200&brandId=1198&modelName=RESIDENTIAL-WASHER&diagramPageId=00003&componentDescription=CONTROL%20PANEL%20PARTS&documentId=W0607261&backToLink=Return%20to%20Sub%20Components%20list.

SOURCE: washer giving F2 error during wash cycle, cycle doesnt finish

HI. this code represents a Long Drain issue.

If the drain time exceeds 8 minutes, the water valves are turned off and F02 is flashed.

Press PAUSE/CANCEL twice to clear the display.

NOTE: After 4 minutes the “Sud” error will be displayed, then 4 minutes later the F02 error code will be displayed.

Potential Causes

• Check the drain hose and make sure it is not plugged or kinked
• Check the electrical connections at the pump and make sure the pump is running.
• Check the drain pump filter for foreign objects
• If the above does not correct the problem replace the pump

MODEL # GHW9100LW1 CONTROL LOCK IS LIT UP AND WASHER WON'T DO ANYTHING

The Control Lock is a safety feature that enables the consumer to lock the control panel to prevent children from manipulating the controls and accidentally starting the appliance.
With the lock on, the control panel is disabled and you cannot use any of the controls, except the button to unlock it. It can inadvertently be set following a power outage, leaning against the control panel, or pressing and holding the wrong button. This is usually not an indication of a malfunction.

If this is a Whirlpool manufactured appliance (such as Kenmore Elite, Maytag Epic or Whirlpool Duet), the following link explains how to lock/unlock this feature:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3608801-control_panel_lock

These instructions are also printed on the front panel of the appliance and in the owner's manual.

If this does not correct your problem, then you may have a more serious problem other than a simple operator control button issue (such as an operator console problem or main control board issue). Please post back and let me know if you need further assistance.

Our model GHW9100LW1 Duet Whirlpool Front Load Washer has an intermittent H-F code, beeps and stops. Seems like it's worse with winter coming...20's to 40's outside...input water too cold or not enough...

H and F code flashing alternately could be one or more of the following items not working properly or bad:

- Flowmeter.
- Water inlet valve
- Water pressure switch. (last thing to replace)

Make sure to unplug power cord before you replace the part and also make to clean drain tube and filter every year.
