Fuji A303 shuts off

When pressing the shutter button to take a picture, my Fuji A303 shuts off. On the display screen it shows that the battery is running out. I have put new batteries in the camera and the same thing happens. Hope you can help.

Alkaline batteries just don't have the power for more than a few pics in a digital camera. Digital cameras for the most part should only be used with rechargeable NiMH batteries. Walmart sells these for around $7 for a package of four (about $15-19 for the batteries with charger). Keep in mind they'll save you big bucks in the long run over alkalines, AND they'll last for at least 100 pictures per charge (and probably many many more). You'll be very pleased with their performance, and slap yourself in the head for not buying them sooner. When at the store, look on the package for a power rating of at least 2500 mah.

Mt camera will not show a picture to take the screen is blank when you turn it on

Think that you might have accidentally pressed the DISP or DISPLAY button on the back of your camera. This manually turns the LCD display on and off to save batteries. You would then use the optical viewfinder in its place. To turn the screen back on, just press the DISP button one more time.

If that didn't help, a stuck shutter is another common failure mode for digital cameras. The symptoms of a stuck or "sticky" shutter are very similar to CCD image sensor failure. The camera may take black pictures (for shutter stuck closed), or the pictures may be very bright and overexposed, especially when taken outdoors (for shutter stuck open).

To confirm a stuck shutter, put the camera in any mode other than "Auto", and turn the flash OFF (you don't want to blind yourself for the next step). Next look down the lens and take a picture. You should see a tiny flicker in the center of the lens as the shutter opens and closes. If no movement is seen, then you likely have a stuck shutter. If so, please see this link for further info and a simple fix that may help.

Help! Won't turn on

Fuji suggests; "If the digital camera will not turn on, run through the "Checklist" given below. If this does not solve the problem, take the camera, the batteries, and the AC Power Adapter to an authorized FUJIFILM service center for testing and repairs. [Checklist] 1. The direction of your battery might be wrong. Confirm it and put it again. 2. Load new or fully charged batteries. 3. The battery terminals may be dirty in a way that cannot be seen (fingerprints, etc.). Wipe the terminals clean with a soft cloth. 4. Press the Power button again firmly." Cleaning the battery contacts sounds worth a try. Fuji also say; "Please use only alkaline batteries or Ni-MH rechargeable batteries with Fujifilm digital cameras Please note that instruction manuals provided with Fujifilm digital cameras recommend that only alkaline batteries or Ni-MH rechargeable batteries are used with those digital cameras which require AA or AAA type batteries. If other types of batteries are used together with an AC adaptor, this may result in the rare occurrence of the battery overheating. Please do not use batteries other than those recommended in our instruction manuals." Check that the type of battery is correct Did you buy the camera new? is it still under warranty? Here is the link to the support page for the s7000 including manuals, repair centre details etc; http://www.fujifilmusa.com/JSP/fuji/epartners/ServiceSupportBrowse.jsp?prodcat=616757&sscucatid=664272&sscucatid=664271 or direct to the manual; http://www.fujifilmusa.com/JSP/fuji/epartners/bin/S7000Manual.pdf Apart from contacting Fuji for service, the only suggestion I could find in the manual was that the battery cover may not be closing fully. Worth checking. Hope this helps :)

Power shot a620. screen is not showing pictures, all icons are there but screen is black? Help please!!

Sounds like you might have accidentally pressed the DISPLAY button on the back of your camera. It turns the screen on and off to save batteries. Turn on your camera, and press this button once again to turn the screen back on.

But if your camera is also taking black pictures,
a stuck shutter is another common failure mode for digital cameras.

My shutter will not open. The power button presses in and nothing happens. I have since got a new battery that was the problem, shutter still will not open. Camera is not operative, please...

Can you get any signs of life? playback pictures etc? Try pressing the playback button instead of the power button. If camera display works then press the picture button and see if the camera will switch over and the lens extends. Also check if the tab on the battery door is not broken. This operates a micro switch to cut off power

LCD display cracked

You can replace the lcd screen although you do need to be careful. You camera has a flash capacitor that contains 300 volts and if you short it out you can easily fry the camera circuitry. You can check on ebay for an lcd or call fuji usa. I will warn you though their parts department isn't the most helpful.

Camera shuts off when you click the shutter button

The same thing happened to mine. While not a solution, my workaround has been to turn the LCD screen off when I'm shooting. It's worked so far.
