If the engine is warm and you shut it down, leave the choke off, lower the revs and start it. (when the choke is wide open you are using the fresh air coming in to dry the spark plugs and prevent flooding). If the motor is already flooded use that procedure to dry the plugs, then go back to full choke until it tries to start and quits again, then use half choke and pull one more time... works all the time.

lumpy is misfiring. that be it.
ever do a tuneup this decade? even spark plugs?
the above implies it runs great cold. and running long distances
but if parked it has what is called in the business, heat soak, hot restart failure.
ever use scan tool. and plug it in (after a tune up) and see if there are
DTC errors.
and when wont start, TRY WOT , that is , wide open throttle cranking
per opr. guide, this clears flooding. does this help. it?
did you examine spark tips to see if fuel soaked (flooded, or jet black)????? check for spark , yet?
when dead.

Look at thd fuel lines. They may have come undone which is why its flooding the air filter. Take the air filter off and look to see where the fule is coming from, that will give you a better idea of how to fix it.

While driving auto will just cut out . attempt to restart auto and it will not start almost like it is flooded. was happening once in a while . But would start right back up. now it more diffacult and has...

I believe that is athrottle body injection and you could have some partially plugged injectors, instead of spraying the fuel in a mist it could bepouring in and causing flooding.when it sits for a while the fuel drains off and will restart. I would try an injector cleaner and possibly a tune up. Good luck.

Car starts fine after sitting awhile. If you drive awhile then stop and try to restart it won't.

Check the electronics, cam sensor or crank sensor these are the culprits.

I would be more suspicious of the fuel system. Have you changed the filters lately? Do you have a 6.2 or a 6.5?

91 Honda Accord wont start after it warms up

No, the main relay isn't the problem. Most likely, the high temp made it a bit more difficult to start, then it sounds like it may have 'flooded' (too much fuel, since it had trouble starting right away). Letting it sit for awhile will solve a fuel flooding problem. Make sure the coolant level is where it should be, and car is not due for a tune up. Extreme heat or cold is tough on an engine, and a few small problems can prevent the car from starting in those conditions. How long has it been since plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, rotor, fuel and air filters have been replaced? Just make sure you keep up on the maintenance, and remember. the accord is getting on in years. How many miles? Good luck with the Honda, it's a great car (I have a 91 Prelude and a 92 Accord).

Car won't start

try this, if the car wont start push the pedal all the way to the floor and hold it ther while you crank. It sounds like you are flooding the car some how. Pushing the pedal to the floor puts the car into clear flood mode and it shuts off the fuel flow. try and see just a suggestion

Car won't start!!

AmyLynn001, 1st thing, let the car sit for a couple hours (because u smell gas, it's definitely flooded). Turn the key to start (do NOT touch the gas pedal!! Cars are designed now to start w/out touching the gas pedal. If u do, u will flood it, and make it even more difficult to start) When u turn the key, only hold it to turn the engine over for no more than 10 seconds. If after the 10 seconds it doesn't start, turn key off, wait about 10 seconds, repeat. (this is to reduce wear and tear on the starter, and to not run the battery down real quick). It sounds like several problems coming together caused this. U state that the car needs a tune up, it's likely the overheating, need of a tune up (car not performing to optimum efficiency) and pushing on the gas pedal, resulting in flooding, all came together to create this no start condition. Eliminate any one (preferably all!) and u should be able to start the car. So, hopefully just letting it sit and not touching the gas pedal while attempting to start will be enough to get u back on the road, then get that tune up soon. Let me know how u make out.
