you should also Check your RAM. The RAM is located in the middle of the motherboard. There are tabs that you can push to release the RAM. Remove it and put it back in place until the tabs pop out. Loose RAM can cause your computer not to start properly where you want to see a video signal. Remove the memory modules from their slots. Take the opportunity to clean the slots on the motherboards and the memory module connectors. Use compressed air to blow dust away and clean contacts with a soft cloth. Do not use a metallic vacuum cleaner if it touches any component it may create a short and cause damage to the motherboard or other components. Do not use solvent that may attract dust and never poke things like cotton buds in to slots. lightly rub an alcohol (Methylated Spirits) on a cloth not to hard let the alcohol do the work on the copper gold or silver tabs and r Allow the pins to dry. They will air dry in a matter of minutes.

8 Short BeepsYour video card isn't working. Make sure it is seated well in the bus. If it still beeps, either the whole card is bad or the memory on it is. Best bet is to install another video card.

Just a heads up.

SOURCE: hp pavilion a1540n does not boot

Sounds like a memory fault, try removing 1 memory at a time, and restart. might help, try each memory by its self to indentify the bad card.

Installed a new bios update and the PC froze half way thur the install, Now when i turn it on its beeps 8 times and the LED light flashes 8 times then it acts like its starting up but theres no displa

You can usually reset the CMOS if you remove its battery from the motherboard, and maybe short across the leads to remove all residual voltage from its capacitors. I say "maybe" because removing the battery for 20 minutes might do the trick, and there can be a couple of leads in the same area of the motherboard expressly for the purpose of resetting the CMOS. Unplug the power cord before trying this, and touch the case before trying this to remove any static charge.

Hp pavilion dv9000 takes a long time to get past the bios screen. It won't boot of dvd either??

Check BIOS boot options and assign local hard drive as first for faster boot. This is also where you set CD\DVD as first to boot from disc. Look for F Key press on start up. It will be shown on screen. These can vary.

Many HP machines also have a boot menu option during boot. Again an F key and may vary.

What's youComputer won't boot with 16 gig of memory Problemsr problem?

Go down to where it says "Memory upgrade information"
be sure you are using the correct memory. The machine should also give you beep codes or flashing light codes if it doesn't get into the BIOS screen.
If you're using the proper memory, try to install it one stick at a time to see if it works at all

HP DV6110us: 4 beeps, no boot

besides the beeps which indicate a motherboard timing issue. There should be LED blinking codes given on the front LEDs. I will include the blink codes below, but lets try to at least get the system up and running. First, I would like you to remove the RAM sticks from the laptop and just reseat one stick back in the machine. Try to boot with that one stick, if it does not, try the other alone. There have been issues when reseating the ram or re-installing it have temp. fixed the issue. If it does reboot, go to the HP support site, put in your model number of your laptop and download and install an updated BIOS. Below are the blink codes that may narrow down the problem.....

HP DV6000 LED Blink Codes

LED Component Error Condition
Blinking battery power LED Battery Insufficient charge on the battery
Blink: 1 - Caps Lock/Num Lock CPU CPU not functional
Blink: 2 - Caps Lock/Num Lock BIOS BIOS corruption failure
Blink: 3 - Caps Lock/Num Lock Memory Module error not functional
Blink: 4 - Caps Lock/Num Lock Graphics Graphics controller not functional
Blink: 5 - Caps Lock/Num Lock System board General system board failure
Blink: 6 - Caps Lock/Num Lock BIOS BIOS authentication failure

New HDD inserted into Pavilion ZD7000 - will not boot from XP CD

Try your old HDD in it and see if that works. If it does work then nothing is damaged except your DVD drive/Controller. Try putting the new HDD in another computer, installing windows then putting it back in the HP. If all else fails then flash the bios with an updated image and see if that rectifies the problem.
