The weight at the end of the arm should be adjusted so that it applies pressure to the stylus. However sometimes the cueing leaver can get stuck or break, not allowing the stylus to come down on to the record. If the weight has numbers trying setting it to around 2 or 3. If it does come down, adjust it till that it neither rumbles or slips across the record. It's a question of trial and error doing this.

I gather you don't know how to adjust the tonearm. First put the stylus pressure, and antiskating to zero. Balance the tonearm for a free floating position. Ortofon cartridges will list the stylus pressure, generally 1.5 grams. Dial in the correct pressure, and set the antiskating to the same as the stylus pressure. What is a balanced force?

Higher end turntables have an adjustment for Balance force. This is the balance of the arm such that the needle is off balance to the point where it pushes down onto the record album. The force with which it pushes down needs to be minimal but it needs to be enough to keep the needle in the grove.
1 to 2 grams is nominal but needles usually have the force setting listed.

Turntable skipping

It sounds like you need to adjust the need tension (counter-weight thingy on the other end). If the needle is too "light" on the disk, it will float around and over the groove walls. Make sense?
Another thing is th tracking resistance of the stylus arm (if your player has this adjustment).. This one puts resistance on the horizontal movement to keep it from "skipping" when a deep scratch is encountered playing an album.

The higher end players have these and many more adjustments which were made to counter scratches and deformities in vinyl records. My father had one which used a laser instead of an actual needle to read the track groove so that no wear occurs in playback.. (star wars stuff, right?)

Goiod luck to you, but I think those two are your issue.

Left needle thread is too loose on toyota overlocker

check to see if the needle is inserted correctly
make sure it's the right needle for the machine
try adjusting the tension setting to a higher number or letter
if that doesn't work, I suggest taking the machine in to be checked

Bobbin thread doesn't get taken up

Cold be one or more of several things.

1. Needle bent.
2. Needle not fully inserted correctly
3 Machine is out of time.

Change the needle first... it is probably all messed up from your jamming it into the solid object. If it still hits... take the machine in for cleaning, oiling and timing adjustments.

Sld93 auto cue just falls short of the album. Is there a manual adjust or is new belt needed ?

Hi, at the base of the tonearm on the left side is a rubber grommet. Remove and insert a flat blade screw driver. Adjust slightly to the right and test. Adjust until needle lands in correct position at start of record. Cheers John. Stylus City
