You will have to lift off the cloth on the platter section to expose two rather large holes in the plattr. Insert your thumb and forefinger, and pull up.

SOURCE: Technics SL-BD22 ground wire does not reduce hum. Any solutions?

I have found out that the female phono plugs on the turntable are sensative and have to have a solid connection and often adjusted from time to time to eliminate the 60 cycle hum.

Needle doesn't make contact with album-can I adjust it myself?

The weight at the end of the arm should be adjusted so that it applies pressure to the stylus. However sometimes the cueing leaver can get stuck or break, not allowing the stylus to come down on to the record. If the weight has numbers trying setting it to around 2 or 3. If it does come down, adjust it till that it neither rumbles or slips across the record. It's a question of trial and error doing this.

Lp starts off sounding good..shortly after sounds like a warped record.

It would sound like the speed control is not functioning and changing speed up and down. That might sound like a warped record as you describe it. You can try moving the controls and cleaning them with a commercial contact cleaner.

I had not used my turntable for about five years due to no needle. Found a needle and played two LPs, then on the third one, it just did not move or work at all. It lit up but just acted like it had no...

The low grinding noise could be the motor spinning with "no load" i.e the belt has snapped or fallen off due to being perished.
Lift the platter to refit the belt and or replace it if required.

Turntable wont spin

If everything seems ok with the power , there is usally a small microswitch that sends power to the motor when the tone arm is moved to the start of the record.
The switch might be bad or the lever that actuates it (connected to the tone arm) might be sticking. You may have to take the bottom cover off or remove the platter to see it.
Also make sure the belt is looped over the motor shaft. If the motor runs but the belt still doesnt turn, belt might be bad.

Cartridge

"at3482p-de" <--do a search for this at yahoo. the resulting cartridge is correct for your model. it comes with the needle as all cartridges do. There are better ones you can get but this one is aprox. equal to the original supplied with the unit. In short any pmount type cartridge will fit/work in your player.
