The fuel trim malfunction indicates and slightly rich or lean condition. The most likely causes on this vehicle are in order: vacuum leak, failed suction jet pump (vac check valve assembly), leak in pcv system, or failed Mass air flow sensor. A smoke test of the intake would be the first place to start. And no, it doesn't hurt the engine. It uses baby oil to make the smoke!

PO170= Bank 1, fuel trim malfunction. It could be anything. Do a preliminary check. Is there any damage underneath, pinched, damaged, leaking fuel line/s. Look at any recent service that you or the shop may have done.

Vw 2001 beetle engine malfunction light is on

Hello
When the service engine soon light (Also called the check engine light or engine management light) is turned on this is to alert you to the fact that Powertrain Control Module (computer) has detected a failure somewhere in the systems it controls you may not feel any difference in the way the engine runs, this can be the transmission or the engine or emission system, there are fault codes set in the modules memory for these faults. What needs to happen now is to have the powertrain control module scanned with a special tool called an OBD2 electronic engine control scanner or a OBD2 code reader. Once the code(s) are read then you must perform the diagnostics for each code and make the appropriate repairs based on the findings of the diagnosis that was performed, this is called doing "Pinpoint" testing.

Engine check light on while driving, already replace new fuel filter with regulator, clear fault using vw diagnosis tool, after driving several days, the fault occured again with the fault code p0441>

Your EVAP purge valve may be faulty. Also, check the vaccum lines attached to the valve for any signs of wear and tear. Should be located next to the coolant tank.

Test radiator cooling fans

Hello,

they should come on at app. 90 deg. celsius (190 F) .

It is a common problem with the beetle, the cause is a malfunction in the cooling control module.

The module is surveilled by the on board diagnosis system, so you should bring the car to the shop and let them run some tests with the diagnosis computer.

Check engine lite is on 2005 volkswagen beetle

whenever this check light is turned on a fault code for the problem that caused the powertrain control module (computer controller) to turn on the check engine light sets a fault code in its memory, this code is key to finding the problem, u can have the system checked for free by any Kragen, Autozone or other discount parts store like them, get the code(s) and post them back here and we will try and give you the answer to what is wrong.

I was just told by the vw service dept. that they think my 2003 beetle needs a new tiptronic switch and that it will cost $709. They said they think something had spilled on the area where the shifter is...

when a service person says "I think" , it is time for you to find a real mechanic that knows
Reading fault codes instead of I think is a better way to go to get the real fault fixed
find an accredited service shop that has experience on your make of vehicle , get the fault codes read and a quote
