Question about ASUS Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Wireless assistant Last year I did an upgrade from windows7 to window8; since then the wireless network adapter is switched off after a restart of my laptop. Via Network center -> problem solving, and starting "network adapter problem solving" the wireless network adapter is analyzed and then restarted properly; the diagnostic report indicates that my wireless network adapter had been software disconnected. I can send you the analyze report if you wish (is all in Dutch)

SOURCE: Wireless network disconnection sometimes

The Toshiba Satellite A210 has a built in wireless adapter - at least all of the ones I did a quick check on the specs. If yours has a built in wireless why are you using an adapter??? Presuming you have a good reason - have you gone in and disabled the built in wireless? They could be conflicting. Second I would use Network Magic software to setup your home network. I struggled many hours and could not get everything to work the way I wanted - all problems with home network fixed in minutes with Network Magic. I do not work for them or anything but I will tell you it is the best software money I have ever spent - and I have been around since 10MB was a dream hard drive.

SOURCE: wireless adapter has suddenly stopped working.

First unplug your adapter and boot your computer. It wouldn;t hurt to reboot it once as well. This should clear out any settings. When it has fully booted up only then insert the adapter into a different usb port. If it recognizes it and works it can indicate a usb problem.

If it finds it but doesn't connect a adapter problem. You can uninstall it and reinstall the drivers and it might work. If not replace. If it does nothing then its died on you and your adapter needs to be replaced.

Most adapters and home network units (wifi routers etc) only last for 1-2 years before they act up or die on you. Very annoying and can be expensive. I have a stack of wifi routers where the wifi isn;t reliable but the rest works. And a drawer full of various wifi adapter that are detected but not connected and a few just plain dead ones. All of them seem to fail at about the same time after purchase.

Got an acer aspire 7745G with a broadcom802.11n wireless network adapter often get a disconnect from wireless network with only solution to shut down and restart the adaptor problem is that it freezes up...

I have the same laptop with the same issue. I had it fixed last year by fiddling with some settings but after a PC crash, its back.

My approach is:
1) install the newest driver (there is a 5.100 version out which did the trick last time)
2) go to start and type services and enter to see all your services. Look for "computer browser" and "TCP/IP Netbios" and make sure they start automatic. This makes sure they restart when it freezes up. When my card disconnects, i get connectivity back in 40 sec.
3) make sure your adapter settings indicate that the computer should not shut down the card to save power. This seems to work for a lot of people.

My solution isn't 100% bulletproof as i'm still trying to figure out how i fixed it last time but these things should get you going. If you google "Netbios has stopped", you'll find that we're not alone with this problem

If your kids laptops are getting good signal strength then, its the problem with your laptop. You nmay have to upgrade your wireless adapter to N standard. The one which you have might be a b/g standard adapter. Check with your sony to upgrade the wireless adapter.

Connection drops and no available network

So you are using windows Vista and the wireless connection is dropping.
Do you have any other wireless computer which is working properly ?
If the other wireless is working properly then the problem is with the wireless adapter. Now you have already upgraded the drivers, then there is nothing much we can do.
If you do not have any other wireless laptop working wirelessly, then try to bring another wireless laptop in the network and check whether it works properly.
If you face the same problem on that computer also that means the router might be having problem

Belkin N1 Wireless Adaptor not connecting on PC

what the adviser meant was your pc cannot provide enough power to the usb port to power the unit, assuming you have tried other ports and it still wont work; you will need to either purchase a pci usb 2.0 card adapter or purchase a mains powered usb hub and connect to this instead.
